Rating: Summary: 1star Review: iam very curiou
Rating: Summary: that icky feeling afterwards Review: reading susie bright's book is exhilerating and fun -- one feels really free reading an entire book which openly describes a multitude of sex acts. susie bright is also an incredibly witty writer. however, after putting the book down, i was filled with a really icky feeling. i felt like susie bright wasn't simply describing particular sex acts but *prescribing* particular sex acts -- this was particuarly evident in her tone (which is always nearly mocking anyone and everyone who isn't just like her). i also felt like there were moments when bright could have written about the complexities of sexuality (particularly in the essay where she discusses giving a speech to hiv positive women); however, bright's overly-sassy tone prevails.
Rating: Summary: great funny read with lots of info Review: This is a collection from Susie Bright's colume "Toys for Us" from "On Our Backs" over the first six years of the magazine's run. She answers a few questions, discusses lesbian issues, talks about her personal experiences, all in direct by funny language sure to burst down your resentments if you have any. If you were a reader of "On Our Backs" and remember enjoying her colume, now you can read 26 of them in this collection. If you didn't but are interested in lesbian concerns from the mid 1980s to 1990 you'll find this full of information that will surprise and perhaps sadden you.
