Summary: Families of Value a fair value
Review: A somewhat informative book. Answered some questions I had, like what do the kids call you? I was disappointed that there was not more information told from the kids' perspective. Mostly parents. Also, was almost exclusively a book told from a lesbian point of view. Some, but relatively few comments from gay male parents. Many of the themes told from the perspective of lesbian parents can be generalized to include men as parents, but nevertheless, the gay male parenting experience is a unique one and is not well represented here. An average book covering a topic on which little substantive, quality information is available.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Down to Earth, honest, no hype/glitz, just real parenting
Review: If you want to know how much these families are like the main stream, read this book. If you are looking for media-type, right-wing hype that proves how "out there" gays and lesbian parents really are-DON'T READ THIS ONE. It's humanism will change the open heart.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A clear picture of real families
Review: This book gave me some answers I was looking for in the adoption process. It opened my eyes on some issues I had questions about. The families selected were very diverse, I was disapointed that it did not include a gay male couple, only lesbians and single gay men. 86% of the families profiled were lesbian parents.
