Summary: Can you say "lesbian cliche?"
Review: I picked up this book because it sounded light and fun. If you like "Sex and the City" or even some of the fast paced remarks of "Gilmore Girls" you'll love this book. It is well written, fast paced, and easy to read. The only warning I have is to make sure you are reading this in a place that laughing out loud won't cause a scene. I made the mistake of taking this with me to the dentist office and to a restaurant to read. When you burst out laughing and can't seem to get it under control people think your crazy. And this book will have you doing it, lots of it, if you get to a comment one of the girls may say that makes you laugh plan to keep it up for a couple of pages. Would love a sequal.

Summary: Can you say "lesbian cliche?"
Review: I wasn't as impressed with this book as some others have been. The characters and the friendships were under-developed and the entire book was dialogue. And how many times can the author say the word "lesbian" on each page? I wouldn't recommend running out for this one unless you're looking for a quick read filled with cliches, stereotypes, and old jokes.

Summary: Don't take this book seriously
Review: If you are looking for a serious look at lesbian life in the 21st Century, don't buy this book. If you want a chance to laugh at sterotypes and enjoy a lighthearted book, buy it.

Summary: Lesbian mirror image
Review: This book was a sad replica of Sex in the City. Don't get me wrong, it has it's funny parts, however even those I laugh at begrudgingly! From the woman writting the editorial every week about lesbians, to the way that they get together once a week, to the way they met each other, this book just takes Sex and the City and makes the women lesbian! Sadly I read the entire thing hoping it would get better (it doesn't). Don't make the same mistake as me, don't waste your money. There are so many good books out there, keep searching. The book doesn't allow depth or character development. Trust me (even though you don't know me) and don't buy a book by Dean, check out Radclyffe!

Summary: Elizabeth Has Done it Again!
Review: This was the book I was waiting for: a lighthearted, honest farce about love from the lesbian perspective. Elizabeth Dean has written a novel that breaks the perceptions of the "typical" lesbian, who is usually a grassroots womyn who has a hankering for the Indigo Girls. Not that those women don't exist or that there's something wrong with that, but there is another side to the female-oriented culture. How about woman who is cosmopolitan, aggressively feminine and who'd rather listen to Celine Dion than k.d. lang? Those women do exist and Elizabeth does a great job portraying them and breaking down the highs and lows of finding love.

Enter Gracy, Parker, Blair, and Lindsey, four women who meet at a party and become instantly bonded. They share their trials about meeting women, being in love -- and staying there. Gracy, a freelance writer, is the sensible narrator who guides us through the novel with ease. As a writer, she intersperses her columns between chapter, which deal with contemporary romantic issues as "Sex or Love: Which Comes First?"

Overall, the book is truly hilarious, especially a certain scene with an overzealous activist who confronts the girls. Honestly, this is the type of book that should be made into a TV show: "Sex and the City" -- lesbian style. It would definitely get great ratings.
