Summary: Excellent Quick Read
Review: I really enjoyed the book. It is well written and touches the heart. It is a great story. Everyone will enjoy The Second Coming of Curly Red. It deals with realistic trying situations yet gives one hope for humanity. Religious people will enjoy this book as much as anyone. Christians will learn from it, the message of Jesus is clear. Love thy neighbor. God is alive and well and it is obvious by the authors' prose.

Summary: Great storytelling with wonderful characters!
Review: It's hard to believe this is Jody Seay's first novel: her gift as a storyteller is apparent from the first paragraph. The characters are engaging and true-to-life, the situations they find themselves in timely and realistic. Aside from an important message about love and tolerance, I was completely taken by the story of Jimmy Heron and the healing of his broken heart. (Robert Duvall, if you're out there, this would be a great role for you!) Ms. Seay's style is true Texan: warm yet tough, not letting you go until the last sentence. And you don't want to let go - the story grabbed me and kept me turning pages well into the night. I highly recommend this book!

Summary: A story of hearts opening, a discovery of our one-ness!
Review: Jody Seay is a true story-teller. My attachment to these characters--Jimmy, Lou, Jonah, Cory, and of course, Curly Red-- was similar to my connection to the characters in Fried Green Tomatoes, or to those in Where The Heart Is. I was drawn into the sorrows, joys, and the ever-present humor shared among these characters. They became my friends, and I was outraged at the indignities they endured, I grieved with their losses, and celebrated their triumphs. I did not want this book to end, and I anxiously await Ms.Seay's next offering!

Summary: Enchanting, and Rich as Butter
Review: Keep an eye on Jody Seay. This woman's work is marvelous. There is something about the way she magically strings words together that makes you just proud to be a member of the human race! Let's hope we all hear much, much more from this wonderfully gifted writer.

Summary: Wonderful and enjoyable read
Review: Once you begin reading this book you'll be amazed this is the first book written by this author. She writes like we Texans talk...straight from the heart, with much imagination and animation. Not only will she take you thru the full range of emotions, but you will swear you know a 'real person' that's exactly like these characters. They truly come to life with her words. An easy to read, fun to read, enjoyable beyond imagination book!! Simply a must..............

Summary: Kept my interest....
Review: Really enjoyed this book. It started out with a "bang", literally, and kept a good pace from there. I must commend Ms. Seay for making her characters diverse and interesting and seemingly normal looking. Am so tired of the Xena/Gabrielle look-a-likes in so many of the books being written today. Thank you Ms. Seay.

Summary: A candid, compelling, compassionate, illuminating novel.
Review: Seventy-year-old Texan Jimmy Heron, shattered by the tragic death of his wife, takes to the road as he tries to outrun his pain. When he is befriended by Cory Miller and Leigh O'Brien (a lesbian couple living in Reliance, Oregon) the possibilities for a renewed life, for trust and commitment, open up for him once again. But his two new friends are the target of a vicious harassment campaign fueled by the bigotry of the Christian Right. Spreading lies and fear couched as "family values", the fire and brimstone of the Mt Goshen Church of the Righteous spills over, igniting an all-too-rel conflagration. In its heat, a community is forged and a town remembers how it got its name. The Second Coming of Curly Red could be torn from today's newspaper headlines and is a candid, compelling, compassionate, and illuminating novel. Highly recommended.
