Review: A friend of mine recently suggested that I read 'The Drive'. I'd never heard of Todd, but thought it might be interesting. It did read like a journal and yes, a journey. But to where?
After living many years as a part of the 'lesbian community' I share what appeared to be her frustrations where finding the 'right' woman were concerned. I applaud her for her honesty. She allowed the reader to see a sadness too often seen in our world where many Annies & Danielles exist.
An exploration of each attempt & failure with a reassessment along the way to perhaps to qualify the effort.
By book's end, I was still uncertain as to how much she'd learned about herself, beyond her obvious need for spirituality.
Perhaps that was it. Have faith in where you are going. Fate promises a fun filled ride. Just make sure to pay attention along the way.
I hope to see more from her

Summary: Honest and Revealing
Review: Having not thought much of the self-absorbed storyline in "Claire of the Moon" (movie or novelization, take your pick) I didn't think I'd think much of Trisha Todd's memoir which included a great deal about the behind-the-scenes elements of "Claire."

I was wrong. And glad to be.

After reading The Drive I'm convinced that what poetry there is in the movie came from Todd's undeniably poetic soul. The Drive is an invitation to journey while a woman tells you about her secrets, her soul, her ideals and her dreams. Rather than self-absorbed, her observations have more universality than anything "Claire" achieved. It's not an actress on acting or a writer on writing, or even a lesbian on what it's like being a lesbian. It's about a woman, journeying through a broad spectrum of life.
I'm glad I got in the car. I wish the journey had been longer.

Review: I met author Trisha Todd this weekend at her book signing and again when she read from her book in Charlotte, NC. I had just finished reading The Drive the night before. The book is sensual, heartbreaking and then hopeful. The honesty with which she writes impressed me. When I spoke with her, I told her she was a very brave lady. It's one thing to write openly and honestly about your experiences and feelings in a personal journal or diary, but it takes a lot of guts to put it out there for everyone to read.

She said her editor argued with her about including flashes to earlier times in her life instead of just staying focused on the situation with Annie. You were right to keep it in Trisha. The background information explains where you're coming from, where your roots are, why you react and feel the way you do.

Also, the descriptions of the surroundings, the people, and everything else in the book makes you feel like you can see, smell, taste and touch them all. Trisha is truly an artist with words. Thank you again for your heartfelt book and for taking the time to come to Charlotte and for speaking with me. I look forward to your next book and hopefully another visit.

Summary: Trisha touched my heart with her honesty
Review: It's hard to get a copy of Trisha's "drive" when you live in Holland like me. When I finally did, I jumped in the passenger seat and couldn't stop reading. I feel connected. Her honesty moves me. Reading her thoughts, experiences and feelings helps me to stay on my track. Thank you Trisha.

Summary: I feel the pain of everyone. . . then I feel nothing!
Review: This book could have been about me, but without the driving. I could not stop crying as I read the last pages. I felt the author's pain as my own. Her Annie is my Michelle, and I wonder how many others like us are out there. I am numb again as the memories crash in. "The Drive" is a lament for love lost. I loved it!

Summary: Very good
Review: Trisha Todd writes a heart warming, honest flow of thoughts in her new book, "The DRIVE". She is open with her feelings and has great insight into the confusion, joy and pain her relationships present to her. There are pages that will rekindle a personal experience, happy or sad because you can probably relate to her anxiety and insecurities. I know I can... Reading "The Drive" is like listening to a new friend's pillow talk and I personally enjoyed her rambling melancholy tales of life and love. I believe that Ms.Todd would be an interesting womon to know in life. Her autobiographical book gives you a glimpse at the real person behind the Claire we had a crush on and the real beauty behind the long blond hair.
