Rating: Summary: Hope Review: After reading Hope I realized how insignificant the glitches (which I thought were problems)in my life really are. Knowing the suffering people with AIDS go through and everything they must endure really put things in perspective. I believe there is a message in this book for any reader who is seeking a greater understanding for compassion, inner peace and what the true meaning of unconditional love really is. When I read Hope I must admit, I cried, however the strenghts of the author filled me with light and "hope" for anything I might encounter in the future. Thank you Joel, you're truly an Angel in the lives of many people. Thank you HOPE for giving me the message I needed to hear at the time I read you.
Rating: Summary: If there is to be only one book that you read, let it be thi Review: After thoroughly enjoying Joel Rothschild's first book 'Signals', and having bought countless copies for friends and family, we eagerly awaited Joel's Second book 'Hope'. However, we could never have imagined how much impact this book could have. Having previously read an extract of 'Hope' from Joel's website ... and already being aware that 'Hope' was written in a different vein from 'Signals', we were totally overjoyed to find 'Hope' had surpassed all our expectations. Joel Rothschild is an inspiration to all of us, and through 'Hope' invites you into his life and it's lessons so that we can all benefit. This is NOT only a book for HIV/Aids sufferers, or a gay book, or even a book for those coping with tragedy or disease. Joel's gift is to lift his personal experiences, often poignantly described, and show they can apply to anyone. This then is a book for everyone from all walks of life young and old! This is a thoroughly enjoyable and interesting book throughout, which is a pure pleasure to read. As you turn each page you are given an insight into Joel's life and how he transformed adversity into a gift, how instead of becoming the victim, Joel chose to be the survivor and to cherish each moment life has to offer. Each page offers valuable information, insight and the realisation that it is not what happens to us but how we respond to it that truly makes the difference in our lives. If there is to be only one book that you read, let it be this one! You won't regret it for a single second, but will value it for years to come.
Rating: Summary: Heaven on Earth Review: December 13th, 2002 Dearest Joel, Yesterday I finished reading Hope in 2 hours after receiving it from Amazon at a 30% discount. I started intuitively with p.100 and hit on "war" stories about their lives. Then I read from the beginning. Within the framework of how you chose to live, your 2nd book is perfect and complete and unconditional in the choice you made. Not to be a critic, but as an observer and being unconditional love and a 2nd paradigm shifter/shaker, I do notice: - Hope is conditional, to hope is to expect and is to live for the future. It also says that one is not fulfilled and can't be full of joy in the present, or can't feel that one is a present or that other are present(s) too. In-deed "Health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die." and Dr. Jampolsky is fun of saying "change your point-of-view and your world changes". - Your 1st mention of unconditional love appeared on p.60 as with "Sex is like air; it's not important unless you aren't getting any." - Too often times you still believe in fighting and being a survivor. Please note "If vegetarians eat vegetables what do humanitarians eat? - Are you still a skeptic about your marvelous Signals? And are you deeply hooked on the warmongering Western Medicine as Superman the actor is? So "How come SUPERMAN could stop bullets with his chest, but always ducked when someone threw a gun at him?" - I don't know if you still believe that a lover is someone you own and therefore his freedom to choose is a loss rather than a present to you and to him as in p.96? Thus the episode of 12/30/1999 or "Do infants have as much fun in their infancy as adults do in adultery? and thank you for the wonderful Miracle Pets story of Billy. Naturally animals are not pets, most of them are in-deed great teachers of unconditional love and thus wisdom, they are simply more spiritually evolved than most of us humans. An animal is "A true friend knows who you are but likes you anyway." - I would love to read more of your life since birth as you re-member it. Your choice to "Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway."
Rating: Summary: Hope: A Story of Triumph, delivers exactly that Review: Hope is an inspiration to all! No matter what a persons present or past life situation, from the terminally ill, to those suffering through deep loss, to those of us who are blessed to be healthy. (As am I.) Joel has opened up his life and struggles to us to show that it is indeed possible to triumph over whatever life has to offer, transforming perceived diversities into tools for tremendous personnel growth. If you are as blessed as I am, to be in great health and have a great life, Hope will most assuredly fill you with gratitude for the blessings bestowed upon you. A wonderful book. Thank you Joel!
Rating: Summary: A most inspirational , life affirming book! Review: Hope, by Joel Rothschild is one of the, if not THE, most inspirational, life affirming books I have ever read. The unbelievable story of this man's life, his struggles and triumphs, has positively changed my outlook on life. This little book has opened my eyes, and has enabled me to put my own life into perspective. Rating: Summary: Hope: A Story of Triumph Review: I got hooked on Joel Rothschild's books ever since "Signals." I read "Hope" in one setting. A powerful, real, yet sensible story that touches everybody, "Hope" is a story about soul's enlightenment, about rediscovery of life's beauty. Rating: Summary: "HOPE" Triumph's ! Review: If you are looking for hope and words of wisdom from something that is taking over your life you will love this book. I read Joel's first book "Signals" and this is the continuation of how he has made it this far in his life when everyone else gave up hope on him. It gives us all hope, and encouragement for things we must go through every day be it chronic pain, sickness, depression or like Joel himself, aids. He has fought the fight and shows us what courage and hope really are. There is alot of "Food for thought" in this book that he reminds us of and mostly that we must never give up! I was very pleased with this book and it's message of HOPE.
