Review: Joanna Kadi's book takes on tough and often painful issues such as elitism within progressive social movements, cultural appropriation and racism, rape, incest, and sexual abuse, and the erasure of working-class culture and voices from all spheres of modern society, and does so with hope, humor and a will to persevere. Kadi's work looks at class structure through a personal lens, standing apart from many who view class solely as dollars and cents. This book is underutilized, considering the material within and the impact it could and should have on progressive educators, activists, anyone interested in social justice. If I ever teach a course again, I will use this book. I believe it should to be more widely read and utilized - and personally, I have read it more times than I can count!
