Summary: Beyond All Reason
Review: Beyond all Reason is by far my favorite to date.
I truly enjoyed this book I could indentify with
the women ,trust being the main issue.
the Author has a way of getting you to laugh and also cry,I did some of that too!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: If you like romance you'll like this
Review: Beyond All Reason won't make you pause to savor a phrase or wipe away tears of empathy or even think much about it after you finish the last page. But it will make you chuckle, sigh and relax. It's a great escape beach book and I think there's a place in life for reads like this! There are lots of times I don't want a gut-wrenching emotional read that I dwell on for days after (I still can't get scenes from Karin Kallmaker's Maybe Next Time out of my head and it's been two weeks now) and Peggy Herring can really soothe and let me just enjoy. Trina's family are absolutely rotten to her because she's gay, and Trina's way of handling it is a lesson in wit and tenacity!

Summary: Is it Bella Books?
Review: How come my two favorite authors have not been as solid since the switch to bella books. Both Karen Kallmaker's and Peggy's latest books seem to have be neatly lined up, then put through a card shuffler. I am not impressed with the jumping back and forth from past to present. Both books were rough reads - I've never had a problem with either author before.

Summary: decent book
Review: I have mixed emotions about this book. On one hand, it really irritated me. There was too much sex, and not enough romance. Trina & Rosalie couldn't have a serious conversation without groping each other. Several issues were left unresolved. The book also moved WAY too fast. There was no in-depth description of their courtship, it just jumped straight into the sex. The ending really bothered me. It was unrealistic, and it reminded me of a bad movie of the week.
On the other hand, this book was oddly appealing. It had some good humor, and once I got past the flaws, I actually started to like the book. The relationship between Trina & her parents really tugged at my heartstrings. I think that's the most memorable part of this book for me. All in all, the book was fairly decent. Not my favorite, but still enjoyable.

Summary: To sum it up in a word... DUH!
Review: I think what this book proves is that lesbian romance fiction can be as smarmy and stupid as any Harlequin romance novel. I found this book insulting and, I will admit, laughable. Any time I read words like hot, throbbing, pulsating, etc. to describe bodies, my hair stands up. What annoys me with this book is the amount of times Ms. Herring uses them. If I were more insecure, I'd think something was definitely wrong with my sex life (and that of all those around me). I mean, you'd think by this book that lesbian sex is ALWAYS this long, drawn-out, erotic-fest, and it happens several times a day, no matter how tired you are.

Let me change veins, however, so that I won't be accused of being merely envious...

I think the book moved too quickly. As a social worker, I think I speak with a fair degree of accuracy that someone as uptight and insecure as Trina would not so easily let someone move into her life, especially one who has just realized she's a lesbian at the age of 27. Rosalie does nothing but cry so that I wanted to reach into the book, slap her and say "get a grip". Ms. Herring should take a course in writing dialogue (even the jokes were lame). And I do not believe, for an instance, the anti-climactic, surprise ending. It made me want to groan louder than any Lifetime movie.

I did give the book two stars, however, because it was an easy read and it was entertaining in its idiocy.

Summary: Another Great Book
Review: I've read Peggy Herring before and I like her work. Essentially, this story is the "not-so-straight-girl pursues the doesn't-trust-anyone lesbian," but it is well told and not cheesy. I actually believed the story and had an easy time picturing the characters and events. As usual, I couldn't put the book down until I was finished.
