Summary: Left me emotionally drained
Review:

A freind gave me this book as he was moving and throwing away unwanted stuff.

I looked at the cover, read the back, and thought it would be some good trashy reading sometime.

I picked it up yesterday and read the entire thing in one day.

Although the author and I were born roughly about the same time, our 'luck', if you want to call it that, at being accepted in school couldn't have been more different. Non-the less, I could relate to much of what he writes in what is really an autobiography.

I'm a little leary of books and movies that seem to have AIDS/HIV as a theme, but this book moved me to tears. One of the previous owners had posted a sticky at one point, warning the previous owner not to read the rest of the book in public.

Good thing. I wailed.

Great book. I wish more people could get their hands on it to read it.

Thanks Tim. May you and John rest in peace.

Summary: One of the Best & Most Beautiful Books ever Written
Review: A friend in Australia recommended it to me. It was out of print, but I finally got it. And I can't believe it's still out of print! It's one of the best and most beautiful books ever written. Of course, I cried, and always want to read it again and again. It's very touching, truly overwhelming, and surely unforgettable. And I always remember that once both Tim and John created a love story, they lived through it, and it has such a lasting impact on a stranger like me. CommonLanguage@yahoo.com

Summary: Not quite true to life
Review: Although this book rendered the devastating effects of Aids exceptionally well, the first half was rather slight.

It seems that Tim's growing up and coming out was without much conflict. He came out, his friends and family accepted him and he found the love of his life at 15 years old. And while it's lovely that he lived that life, it drains all dramatic pulse from the beginning of the book.

I'm not totally hard-hearted, the book is really quite moving. It just needed to recognize that riveting drama comes from conflict, not peace.

Summary: Couldn't put it down! A truly wonderful book!
Review: Being gay myself, reading this book was a really refreshing experience. I was able to draw many similarities between Tim's experiences and my own. It is rare that I would read a book at all these days, but the way Tim has told his story was so moving, that I finished it in one sitting. The love of Tim & John, as well as the fascinating 'album' of their lives together has touched me, as I'm sure it will you too. Even if you are not gay, this book can teach anyone a lesson in the true meaning of commitment, loyalty and love. Well worth a read.

Summary: how can a book make you feel that way?
Review: Holding the Man. What can I say. I have never had such and emotional reaction to a book before. It was almost like it was happening to a close friend of mine... I never though a book would make me cry.. until I read Holding the Man.

Summary: This help me to understand my gay brother
Review: I am a straight man. When my little brother told me he is gay, I started to look for literature to more understand him. This book has definately helped me to see him from different perspective. This book teaches me that he deserves happiness and we have no right whatsoever to judge a person from his sexual preference. Tim and John had very difficult times dealing with their family, and I do not want this happens to my brother. My love for my brother is even stronger after reading this book.

Summary: Absolutly Amazing book!!!!!!
Review: I am gay myself and this book was amazing!! I can relate to so many things within this book, and it makes you think about how you would react to the situations which occur which the book, being 16 it gives me a good insight into the way that other people have coped with situations which I am myself going through, to know that your not the only one.
