Rating: Summary: Powerful stuff Review: A friend turned me on to Rough Stuff, and I was really glad he did. I'm hardly a hard-core SM guy, but I found almost all the stories in the book to be well-written, erotic, and challenging. It's perfect one-handed reading, while providing compelling stories of the wilder side of sex. Nice job.
Rating: Summary: MEN ON MEN! Review: Bluntly sexual, raunchy, heavy with BDSM, Rough Stuff takes the reader into some seriously non-vanilla realms. Some readers might find that it doesn't go far enough, but for a reasonably mainstream volume, I think it pushes the envelope just enough. If the sexuality of power and pain fascinates you, give this one a try.
Rating: Summary: Hot, sometimes scary Review: Bluntly sexual, raunchy, heavy with BDSM, Rough Stuff takes the reader into some seriously non-vanilla realms. If the sexuality of power and pain fascinates you, give this one a try.
Rating: Summary: Rough?, This book was barely abrasive! Review: I read this book because I had read alot of stories from the collected authors. Some of the stories were interesting, especially Idol by Lucy Taylor and Head Games by Ken Butler, but the rest were just alot of ranting by bitter Queens longing for days gone bye. This is defintely a case of the cover being better than the book.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: Is this litterature or just some "stuff" anybody can find on the Internet? Except the last story from an English novelist, most of the characters are stereotyped. Some authors made efforts to be original, but it remains desperately poor in terms of psychology. Moreover some scenarios are quite ill, and if mutual respect and human dignity still have a sense for you, forget this book.
Rating: Summary: MEN ON MEN! Review: One of the hottest books I've read this year and I'm a hetro woman. Loved it!
Rating: Summary: hot stuff! Review: Rough Stuff is a collection of top-drawer SM erotica, which isn't surprising considering some of the well-known writers involved. What did - pleasantly - surprise me was the range of the book, in terms of both style and substance. Unlike a lot of SM porn, most of the characters in Rough Stuff are more than just one-dimensional sex machines. Even hard-core stories like "A Beating" and "The Endurance Game" have real depth, while some of my favorite stories, like "Whose Little Boy Are You?" and "Immigrant," are poignant as well as sexually hot. As with any anthology, some stories hit me harder than others, and there were a few too many twist endings for my taste. Minor quibbles aside though, this is a great collection, suitable bedtime reading for both the curious and the hard-core player alike.
Rating: Summary: Really great erotica Review: Rough Stuff may not be "the best gay male erotic anthology ever," as one review claims, but it sure is the finest SM-oriented collection I've read in a long, long time. Emphasizing the varieties of power over mere brute force, the stories are all well-written and sexy, some of them oddly romantic, others about as nasty as you'd want to get. When it comes to on-the-edge erotica, this book is state of the art.
