Review: A readable, hilarious romp. I read it in a day while on vacation in Key West. A lot of fun!

Summary: LOTS OF MERRIMENT - LITTLE MYSTERY
Review: Awakened from a dream in which Rupert Everett is mad about him Robert groggily reaches for the phone to hear the voice of his best buddy, the incredibly handsome and wealthy Michael.

It seems that Michael has met the man of his dreams in a sinewy Southerner, Max. Robert has no lover to call his own, nonetheless he is a good friend to Robert and assists in planning Robert and Max's wedding, which is certain to set New York's elite and not-so-elite on their ears.

There will be jungles of exotic flowers, fabulous refreshments; nothing will be overlooked. Going about his task with about as much brio as he can muster Robert seeks the understanding and sympathy of his tall lesbian friend, Monette. After all, while Robert has but a pittance Michael has everything - that is until the big day.

The groom is punctual but his bridegroom is nowhere to be found - nor his priceless Matisse. Thus, a trio of the most unlikely sleuths is set in motion to solve the question of the missing mate-to-be. All they discover is a dead Max. The possible killer? A Bette Davis impersonator.

As it turns out there's not too much mystery here, but there is a great deal of merriment and mirth. It's a fun off-the-wall take on life in the gay lane.

Summary: Definitely not Chaucer.... thank goddess!!
Review: David Stukas is such a charming man. I met him in passing awhile back. I lavished compliments and accolades upon him and I swear that he blushed. "Someone Killed His Boyfriend", "Going Down For The Count" and "Wearing Black To The White Party" are bestsellers in my bookshop, and they have every right to be. Witty, clever, hilarious and sometimes potty-inducing, it was a cover to cover read for me. Few books capture my interest and I have to say this one never lost it. The dialogue flows so easily that one can almost see a movie version playing out (hint hint). There hasn't been a better trio of detectives since Nancy, George and Bess (well, I guess the name "Nancy" is kind of appropo for thess books :-) Make sure to start from book 1 and go in order. You really don't have to, but Stukas makes quite a few references back in the latter books. I am currently reading the uncorrected proof of the fourth book in the series, "Biceps of Death" (due out September 2004) and I must say, it is just as good as the rest. Keep the series going, David! You're fans want more of Robert, Michael and Monette! Hugs everyone ;-)

Summary: sick book - glorifies acting out
Review: first: will this review be printed? i always find my reviews censored when i in any way criticize gay subject matter.

but honest i shall be: this book was the pits, totally glorified gay sexual acting out, as well as all the worst of gay culture - shallowness, heavy drinking, surface looks, body-building, pathetic over-focus on male genitalia, money, S&M. and nary a peep about the consequences of such behavior - depression, isolation, misery, poor relationships, and AIDS (much less other diseases).

that said, some of the value of this book (though i admit i found it utterly unfinishable): witty at times, some fun poked at the gay acting-out lifestyle, but really nothing resembling enough perspective on the subject matter it's treating to be worth anything more than one star.

really, a sad, pathetic book. i wish i could be more complimentary about this book, but i can't.

Summary: Couldn't Pull Myself Away!
Review: Funny, accurate and suspenseful would probably be the best words to describe this eager page turning story. Its keeps you blantantly laughing out loud while on the other hand, pretty well describes the typical All American boytoy. It's characters are witty and over the top, but all this, makes the book hard to put down. So to all the future readers, get ready for a hillarious ride! Hope to see David Stukas bring Micheal, Robert and Monette back for another exciting and highly entertaining adventure!

Summary: a summer read
Review: I just finished this book. Like the other review mentioned, it is pretty standard; "uber-gay" friend and "normal" gay protagonist. If you looking for something fun and mindless to read on the beach, this would be it. If you're looking for a good mystery set in the gay community...check out Nathan Aldyne's books.

Summary: Someone Killed His Boyfriend
Review: I loved it! I could not only relate with the characters, but I actually know many people that the characters could have been based on! Michael, Robert and Monette are funny, the plot intriging and the situations very possible, if you don't believe be, try spending your next vacation in Provincetown.

The book was witty, smart and had a good share of mystery. The plot was easy to follow and I was more interested in what was going to happen next, than to find out who the killer was. I didn't like the dead guy anyway.

I can't wait to see what is coming next from this guy. Way to go Stukas!
