Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A probative examination of a radically unstable field. Review: Bravmann has increased the stakes in queer theory as an interpretive possibility, offering an engaging critique of historical accounts of lesbian, gay and bisexual identities. Rather than engender yet another antagonistic/oppositional framework of sexual (un)intelligibility, Bravmann carefully considers how existing historical accounts of LGB identities/fictions are shaped by narrativized techniques that reduce the complexity of the field. This study demands that we re-examine our framings of the past and how they have come to limit and overdetermine our understandings of sexual and erotic desire.
