Summary: SLOPPY, SLOPPY, SLOPPY!!!
Review: I have read all of E. Lynn Harris' other books and I was VERY disappointed in this book. Why was Nicole so stupid? If E. Lynn has no intention on writing another book about these characters, he should have ended the book better. You know the saying...if you are going to do something, do it right...well this saying didn't apply to this book!

Summary: This novel was not as compassionate as the previous novels
Review: I thought that Harris has a great way of writing his novels which make them witty, high-spirited, along with a touch of emotional depth. However, his latest novel was a slight disappointment because it seemed a bit "choppy" and was the type of novel that appeared to be more of an "introductory" novel.... like it was his first time writing. ("There is Jane. See Jane run.") Compare this writing to his other novels and I'm sure you can note the difference. Also, if I may add, if the characater Basil Henderson appears in each and every novel that Harris has written, then why not just write a separate novel based just on this character? Obviously, he's interesting enough to be excluded in a separate, honest, and real story.

Summary: A Good Read
Review: E. Lynn Harris seems to grow with each novel. I enjoyed reminiscing about characters that were introduced in his previous novels. Although at the end it seems to be "rushed", I thought it was a good novel and would recommend it. I finished it during a long layover at the airport!

Summary: Interesting...
Review: I really enjoy reading E. Lynn Harris' books, but this one was hard to keep me interested. The first book was the BOMB! but after that the excitement factor started to die out. I hope the next one is a little more thrilling. The ending was really weak and the characters are becoming sappy and unrealistic. We need some spice in the life.

Summary: Fabulous!
Review: I read the entire novel while getting my hair braided. With each book, Harris's writing seems to improve and become more in depth. He has mastered the art of storytelling. I wasn't disappointed with the ending, but I am anxiously awaiting a book about that awful Yancey & Basil. He has finally met his match!

Summary: Great Book, Disappointing End!
Review: I am an advid E. Lynn Harris Fan. I was first turned on to Invisible Life, and have read every single solitary book thereafter. I was excited to find out that yet another book was written, and rushed to my nearest book store to slap $27.00 dollars on the counter to purchase Abide with Me. I read it in one and a half days (like I have done his other books)and was crushed by it's ending! In my opinion E. Lynn Harris seemed to be at a lost that last chapter. Were we to be set up for yet another sequel? Or did he just run out of ways to end the book? I can only hope that I will get the chance to find out what happened to all these characters in the future....

Summary: The third time is not the charm......
Review: As many others have stated, I too, have read all of Harris books and could not wait to sink my teeth into something else that he has written. I began reading the trilogy years ago and felt that when I completed those works I had closure. However, in this new novel, I felt incomplete. There are so many unanswered questions and possible scenarios that such an accomplished writer as Mr. Harris had displayed in the past, I am surprised that he can sleep at night leaving his fans hanging like this. What happened to crazy cursing Basil and that backstabbing Yancy? Are they going to jump the broom or will they have drama? Why would you make Nicole so dumb and naïve? She came off in the other works as intelligent well put together sister who had a man that adored her. He made her look simple and gullible. Trent and Raymond do they or do they not make it work? What happens to Peaches and Enoch? Do they keep the store or are they bought out? And, why oh why would you bring back the lovable character Kyle as a ghost. I was what?....disappointed! I truly hope that you will write something else that has REAL closure and not this nonsense to appease your editor. You have developed storylines with real and credible characters as in the first two novels "Invisible Life" & "Just As I Am". Please return to that format...you got to be careful because we all could drop you like we never knew you. You are only as good as your last work. Keep that in mind when you feel the pressure to put out substandard stuff.

Summary: It was very Eye catching.
Review: While reading this book, it was very hard to put it down. So I had many sleepless nights until I completed this book. I'm very sad that this might be this authors last book. I don't see how he could let the characters in his book go away. I think that Raymond needs a new taste of life after is thing with the federal judgeship and the thing that he found out.

Summary: It is a fair book to Read
Review: I have to admit that as an advent book reader and as a straight african-american male, I was at first hesitant to read Mr. Harris's book. My wife insisted that his books were terrific, so I started by reading "And This Too shall pass" and then "If This World Was Mine". Only later did I read "Invisible Life" and Just As I Am". I have enjoyed his books and they have taught me alot about my homophobic outlook on life. When I learned that "Abide With Me" was coming out I rushed to the book store to buy it. After reading into it I was somewhat lost and very angry with the characters and the storyline. I felt like maybe he had left us out in the cold when he was writing this book. I mean overall I did read the entire book within a couple of days, but not even the intriguing end could make me want to read this book again.
