Rating: Summary: He's done it again Review: E. Lynn Harris has done it again. Harris is one of the most profound authors in the world. He has opened the doors for hetrosexual people to have a moral respect for homosexuality. Keep up the great work.
Rating: Summary: What was I thinking? Review: A few years ago, I set out looking for gay fiction. Two authors people recommended to me were E. Lynn Harris and Patricia Nell Warren. To tell the truth, I went immediately for Ms. Warren's book The Front Runner because it was about a gay man, and I was interested in her interpretations / musings on gay life. Needless to say, I was hooked, and read everything of hers I could find. Now, a few years later, I was introduced to E. Lynn Harris. All I can say is OH MY GOD! Never have I been so moved and felt like someone understood me. I am now on my 4th Harris book, and am eagerly awaiting the publication later this summer of his new book!
Rating: Summary: An Absolute Delight BRAVO You did it AGAIN! Review: I loved this book. Much like the others (Just as I am, Invisible Life, And this too shall Pass) I thought it was well written (as always) and once again we got to see characters that we the readers feel like we've come to know. Personally I felt Nicole was a bit too naive with the whole Yancy thing but aside from that no surprises. Basil has given me that whole love/hate thing and Raymond is his usual sweet self. I felt his pain and betrayal with Trent. I don't know if that marks the end of this saga with these characters but I have truly enjoyed reading about their trials and tributlations. It will be like saying goodbye to old friends. Keep up the good work! I'm looking forward to the next book. I am a loyal E Lynn Harris fan and as long as you write I will continue to give you my financial support by buying and my moral support by writing/reviewing. God Bless you
Rating: Summary: A satisfying conclusion Review: "Abide With Me" is a satisfying conclusion to the E.Lynn Harris trilogy concerning Raymond Tyler, Jr. and "family". I thought that the characters, that I have come to "know", will have the lives that I believe and hope they should! After reading some of the other online customer reviews, I see that some folk have the mistaken idea that Mr. Harris will not write any more (which I didn't understand) and even though Nicole is a savvy, intelligent, talented woman..even she is able to be momentarily duped by a person (Yancy)that she gave the benefit of the doubt to. Aren't all people like this? No one is perfect ALL the time. Keep up the great work E.Lynn Harris and I will definitely be in the bookstore on July 18th when your new novel is released!
Rating: Summary: GOOD! Review: I ENJOYED THE BOOK. I CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT NOVEL. GOOD WORK MR. HARRIS.
Rating: Summary: Nicely told in Lynn Harris's own unique way Review: I finished this book without even knowing that is was the conclusion to a trilogy. For me that was good because I easily got into the characters of Raymond, Nicole, Basil and Yancey without the need to read the first two. The story is masterfully told in a way that can be only achieved by Lynn Harris. Even though I found myself at times comparing it with his other book, "And This Too Shall Pass" in terms of suspense and grip factor, I don't think he did a bad job on this book. So if you have read any of his books this will not disappoint you, and if you haven't then pick this one up and you won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Trilogy Complete Review: This was the final book in the Invisible Life/Just As I Am trilogy. The update/closure on Raymond was satisfying but the Nicole storyline was a little off. There is sweet and then there is stupid. Nicole was not 'stupid' in the previous plots.Still, while closing some doors, he opened up some new ones with regards to the infamous, double-dealing Basil. He will definitely be the main character in a future novel. This is light reading which exposes us to a different kind of lifestyle.
Rating: Summary: Another good book by Harris Review: Poor Raymond, when it looks like things are finally going his way,his roomate Trent blindsides him! Basil has finally met his match though with Yancy. He's an interesting character. Harris'final book in this triology is comming out in July. I can't wait to see what happens to all these characters!
Rating: Summary: "ABIDE WITH ME"...as long as you keep writing ! Review: ABIDE WITH ME was the book that I picked up without caring was the price was and bought it on the spot. It had been worth every penny I put into it. This is, without a doubt, an excellent ending to the INVISIBLE SERIES. When the story continues with Basil and Yancy in NOT A DAY GOES BY, consider it another purchase!
Rating: Summary: You Can Do Better Mr. Harris Review: I am somewhat disappointed in this novel. The character development was very shallow. I judge a novel on its own merit and not as part of a series. If I had not read "And This Too Shall Pass" and "Invisible Life", I would have thought that Mr. Harris had no business writing at all; however, I do believe that Mr. Harris has talent which still needs to be developed. I hope that negative responses such as mine do not discourage him because I only offer this as constructive criticism. As mentioned with other reviewers, Nichole's character is totally unbelievable especially if you have read the other novels. This betrayal as a dim witted female does not do her justice. It was refreshing to see Mr. Harris portray African American females other than some weak sister waiting on the next man to take care of her or some welfare mom trying to make it. There were more questions created than answered. I won't give it away to those who haven't read "Abide With Me" but suffice it to say that three more novels can be written just to answer those questions. I also did not know what motives he had for leaving the novel hanging like he did if this was supposed to bring closure to Raymond, Trent, Nichole, Basil, Jared and the others. Now I know that at least some of it is explained by the up and coming novel to be released July 17th.
