Rating: Summary: E. Lynn Harris does it again! Review: What a joy to read! I was fascinated to learn that Mr. Harris had another novel on the shelves. I was even more surprised to learn that it was part 3 of the Raymond/Basil/Nicole trilogy. I didn't know how much I'd missed those characters. The ending was a real tear-jerker for me. Please don't let this be the end of the road for our favorite characters. I NEED to know what happens to Basil and Yancey! Keep 'em coming E. Lynn!!
Rating: Summary: Another Masterpiece from E. Lynn Harris Review: This is another excellent work by E. Lynn Harris, another captivating story, showing the joys, love, sadness of the African American life which captures the soul of any black reader. There is so much about what I call black attitudes that I am sure is enough for every black person to see some aspect of the story in their respective culture. WARNING: Once you start one chapter you can't put the book down, it's a living tale... Brothas or sistahs, I invite you to read it and see which character best fits you! It's all about Love, friendship and family, you might laugh or you might cry but this is life, so if you can live it then sure you will want to read about it. ENJOY!
Rating: Summary: SUPER TIGHT AND FO'EVER OUTTA SIGHT! Review: I just gotta give up my props to Brotha Harris for puttin' it all down like that. This book was tight and right on when it comes to tellin' it like it is! You go 'head my brotha! I definitely enjoyed this one and I want to thank my peep who recommended "Milk in My Coffee" and "Pseudo Cool". It is such a fine time to be alive when books by African Americans are finally starting to get the attention they deserve. Again, right on my brothas... I'll definitely be tellin' my brothas and my sistahs about this one!Eazy B!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic, but fell a little short in some aspects. Review: Once again E. Lynn Harris has captured my attention with his vivid use of characterization. I must say, he was able to make me feel once again as if i knew these people. He did a good job on keeping the whole Raymond plot going, but I would have loved to see him give more attention to our favorite married couple, Nicole and Jarred. Of course Nicole got plenty of time with her whole ordeal with Yancey, but I expected to hear more about Jarred and Nicole. Of course he represented Basil very well and overall, I was very satisfied with the novel. It's not as good as 'Invisible Life,' but much better than 'And this too shall pass' A definate read.
Rating: Summary: another great edition to mr. harris works Review: This work was most enjoyable, but by far not the best. I look forward to the development of the weaker characters such as Trent and Jared. Wouldn't it be exciting to have Basil meet up with Trent. Maybe even let Nicole explore her darker side.
Rating: Summary: Good, but not great! Review: Once again we are given life to a world some of us may not deal with on a daily basis, we are given the honesty and emotion of people from many perspectives! Abide with me is a good book, however I didn't feel the development of character or even their situations that I felt in Mr. Harris' previous novels; more soap opera than substance. The return of spirit at the end of the book added a nice touch, though!
Rating: Summary: Good Story Review: I've just completed 'Abide With Me' and found it to be pretty good. It wasn't as good as the previous two, but I still enjoyed it. I would love to see Basil overcome his childhood issues and get his personal life on track once and for all. BUT, I'd also like to know what's going on with Yolanda and Dwight from 'If This World were Mine,' and Caliph and Tamala from 'And This too Shall Pass.' Please, Mr. Harris. Don't let the curtain come down on these interesting characters. You've spoiled me! I look forward to your next work.
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT!!! Review: All E Lynn fans this is a must read. This book ties it all together, through a joys, sorrows and surprises. This is an excellent work. I hope E Lynn is writing right now because I can't wait for the next book.
