Rating: Summary: An absolute must, riviting and suspenseful. Review: Like Lynn's other books this was no easy one to put down. From the moment I picked it up until the end it held me totally. I was not disappointed at all. It was emotional and realistic. Yancy from her introduction to the end proved to how real to life this was. Raymond and Trent proved how strong love is regardless of the obstacle and adversities. I was especially amazed with Raymond for finally confronting his fears both with his dad and Trent. Basil finally got what he deserved and that was Yancy Elizabeth Braxton. Throughout the book I kept missing Kyle and for good reasons, he was the only person who could have stopped Raymond from sleeping with Basil and deep down I think he was with Raymond in spirit. Peaches was remarkable and found happiness in the process. Raymond's dad as all old fashion, conservative and stubborn individivual wonderful ending to a suspenseful ending. Compelling and frightening real is my best description. The only disappointment was I could not go to the store and pick up the continuation of the end of that saga. Looking forward to more work from this truly magnificent, decent, handsome, just damn nice individual E. Lynn Harris.
Rating: Summary: A Must Read!! Review: I bought the book Wed. night and finished reading it the next evening. I could not put it down. This is a must read regardless of your sexuality, ethnicity or race. While it's not necessary, I do recommend reading Invisible Life and Just As I Am first in order to get a better insight into the characters.
Rating: Summary: In Keeping W/the Trend, Really Good Reading! Review: I thought this book was very well written. The "Invisible Life" series has developed Raymond into a great character! This book continues to show Raymond's growth as he continually deals with his sexuality and professional goals. This book had a very emotional ending - something I didn't quiet expect.
Rating: Summary: While the story was good, but maybe commercially driven? Review: I loved being able to come back to Raymond's world, meeting all those characters that i have grown to love, but the writing style, especially at the beginning, was stilted and unfamiliar. Some of the subplots, like the Yancey Braxton thing, were not totally developed and definitely inspired by other more successful dramatic stories (All About Eve, perhaps?). The ending seemed kind of thrown together, as if the author realized he was getting close to page 200 and had to wrap it all up. No one except Raymond really resolved anything, and some issues were just ignored. I also did not appreciate the rather obvious set-up for a sequel. Yancey & Basil? Give me a break! Like either of them are non-dysfunctional enough not to kill each other! Instead of being left with good questions about the character's futures without us, we end up asking why they acted the way they did.In spite of all those problems, anyone who has read previous Harris books will find this a quick read and will hopefully not feel they wasted their time..I didn't.
Rating: Summary: I LOVE THIS BOOK Review: I think that this book is one of his best because of the simple fact of that he lets you know how an everyday life as a gay man can go. Meaning that you can be the happiest couple in the world then you can turn around and be the most confused or even be the most happiest and at the same time be the most confused. But all I really wanted to say was that this book was wonderful. And I cannot wait for his next book to come out!!!:)
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT Review: Each one just keeps getting better! Just when you think Mr. Harris has done his best work the next one just keeps getting better. I feel a personal connection to each charater.
Rating: Summary: Good read, whether you read the previous two or not! Review: I must say that "Abide With Me" held my attention page after page. I read the first of the Raymond-Nicole-Basil trilogy, and I felt as if I hadn't missed a beat. Mr. Harris has a great style of writing, and I love reading his books. Now, I must go back and get the middle book--just to see what I've missed. The only part that was unsettling was the ending. Unless there is a book following "Abide With Me," I didn't think that Mr. Harris really patched up ALL the characters...some, but not all. But overall, this book was great!
Rating: Summary: A guaranteed page-turner! Review: BRAVO! BRAVO! BRAVO! E. Lynn Harris has done it once again! The emotional way that he ties his characters together is absolutly exhilirating. Basil is definitely the character you love to hate. I starting reading it as soon as I received it in the mail and was finished before I went to bed that same night. Harris definitely leaves you wanting for more. This CAN NOT be the end of the series. We have to know whether Nicole ever gets caught and falls from grace and what tanspires between her and Basil. Please don't let this be the end!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Read Review: I finished the book over the weekend. I just hope that MR.Harris writes the next book ASAP!!! It is such an excellent book; it really takes you through the emotions of being with the characters. I didn't want the book to end. Get the book it's worth the money and you'll enjoy the ending. Excellent Mr. Harris bravo!!!
Rating: Summary: I expected more since it was the "trilogy". Review: While the book kept me turning the pages, I must say I was slightly disappointed with the story. When you get used to E.Lynn and his "flavor" I just didn't quite taste it this time around. I did love the character Basil and thought his visits to his "shrink" was extremely wild! You have to love to hate him! Besides Basil, I did enjoy the very last chapter and I won't say who's talking but you reader will have an ending treat!
