Rating: Summary: not good.....AT ALL!!! Review: I am a faithful reader of E. Lynn Harris. This book did not do it for me. It left too many un answered questions. It was no where as interesting as the others.
Rating: Summary: Loved it.Once again E.Lynn captured my heart. Review: This book once again expressed what true friendship is about. As a devoted fan I couldn't wait to read this one. E.Lynn intwins his characters in a web of love and emotions that leave you wanting more.... And I do hope more is to come,,,Keep it up E.Lynn..Peace Love and Blessings.....g
Rating: Summary: Not This Time Review: This book was pathetic, I guess it was bound to happen. I think Mr. Harris has got caught up in his celebrity. He thinks that he can just put anything out now and people will snap it up. I seen better plots in a soap opera. The characters were silly and unbelievable especially the Yancey character. It was hard to believe that Ava would even care about a mediocre Nicole's career. Mr. Harris was stretching for story ideas. I can not believe he calls the series finished. It left more questions unanswered than answered. Lets hope he gets the fire and magic back.
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK IS FOR ALL THOSE GETTIN' THEIR GROOVE ON!! Review: I can't help but to think that this book ended way too soon. I wanted more. Already, I miss the characters. This story was an intense party, and I was glad I had the chance to attend. Thank you Mr. Harris. I also want to alert others to Green's "PSEUDO COOL" which is another powerful African American read.
Rating: Summary: super Review: I have read all of his books and they seem to get better every time. Mr.Harris uses every day people to make them seem like they are just the perfect people which they are. All I have to say is that Mr.Harris Rocks.
Rating: Summary: What happened, E. Lynn Harris? Review: Suffice it to say, reading the entire book was tedious as it was boring. As a devoted fan, I would have to agree with just about everything all the other reviewers have said. The ending was most bizzare and questionable, in fact, just ill-conceived. Did he really think it conveyed closure of any sort? I don't think so. What happened to Raymond's father? Nicole and Jared? Peaches? and most importantly, Basil? I think I would have just felt better if Mr. Harris did not write this book.
Rating: Summary: Something was missing Review: I just finished E. Lynn's latest effort yesterday. Although the book had enough drama to keep my interest (I read it in one day), I felt that it was missing something. It was great to spend a day with Raymond, Nicole, Jared, and Peaches. I thought this volume was his most balanced in terms of discussion and portrayal of sexualities. He touched on quite a few people and aspects of their lives. Unfortunately, therein lies the problem. Harris' ambition as a storyteller presented us with a buffet, but there was no antacid in sight when we ate too much. There were too many things going on and so many issues left unresolved. I really wanted to know: what came of Miss Kitty, how Yancey reconciled things with Ava, the deal with Peaches and Enoch, how would some of the conflicted characters go on with life. Although the ending brought a smile to my face because of the reappearance of characters long since gone, I still did not feel a great deal of closure. My interest in and love for the characters was enough to satisfy, but I was not blown away. Perhaps I expected too much from the book, but the first two blew me away. Overall, I needed Kyle to infuse some humor into things and to lend guidance with his keen insight.
Rating: Summary: This is the best!!! Review: I am waiting on the next book. Mr. Harris you cannot leave us hanging like this. We have to know what happens with Yancey and Basil.
Rating: Summary: Cheated!!! Review: I was totally disappointed and felt cheated! I must admit I expected more of gay love story with all the amenities of heterosexual pleasing but not a equal mixutre of both. I know everyone has their own view of what and how a novel should read. However, having read Harris' previous works, especially the two to which this was to complete a triology, left me in high expectation. I felt with Raymond being the main protagonist, the storyline should have been built around him not Nicole Springer. At one point I actually felt exasperated enough to stop reading but I held on hoping Basil would do something to pull me through (which he didn't). I am an E. Lynn Harris faithful fan and that is why I felt compelled to add my on little review. One other point, where in the world did Harris get the idea for that ending!?! It was definetly out of this world in more ways than one. I'm sure Martha would agree, "it was not a good thing."
Rating: Summary: Interesting but not as deep as the others Review: I enjoyed the opportunity to meet up with Harris's earthy characters. However the storyline was a little week and the end sort of bottomed out. I feel a sequel coming on,we have to find out what happened with Basil and Yancy, not to mention Nicole,Jared and Peaches and the property, did she loose it or what. Also Ava why did she stand Yancy up? Too many questions left unanswered.
