Summary: Abide With Me
Review: I must say that I loved the book, just as I have enjoyed all of the rest. E. Lynn Harris is my favorite authors next to Eric Jerome Dickey and I would read just about anything that he writes. I met him years ago here in Raleigh, NC at the White Rabbit Bookstore and he is one of the most personable people I have ever met; as nice as can be. He has a lot of class and style, and he made me feel as if I had known him for years. Abide With Me satisfied me and I loved the ending; Basil may just meet his match! Basil is a character that everyone loves to hate and I have enjoyed him in every book. I hope the small cliff hanger at the end means that there will be a follow up to this book. Basil truly gave all of your books flavor! It was also good to see where other characters (Trent, Nicole) were with their lives as well. Mr. Harris, keep on doing what you're doing because "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"!

Summary: The end.....I don't think so!!!!
Review: I, as well, have read ALL of E. Lynn Harris' books and I can honestly say that I truly enjoyed each and every one. And when I noticed his book, "Abide With Me" in the window of a bookstore in the mall. I nearly knocked people over to get to the shelf. I was so excited... It was like reuniting with old friends. When I opened the book and began to read I was glad that Basil was trying to come to terms with his issues. However, I was very disappointed with Nicole. I mean E. Lynn Harris characterized her as being a total idiot...I'm sorry...he lead us to believe in his previous works that Nicole was this sharp, well educated sister, that truly has it together, but yet she allows this Yancey to come in to her life and play her the way she did. I'm sorry I was not convinced, nor was I pleased with the way he characterized her in this book. And furthermore, he left a lot of things unanswered regarding the characters... What was that all about. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he purposely ended "Abide With Me" the he did to leave us wondering and wanting more.... And if this is infact, the case, E.Lynn Harris has succeeded in doing what every good writer hopes for from his readers....

Summary: Another great offering from Harris
Review: Although Abide With Me isn't as juicy as his rest it still captures that "need to read" in you. You can start to see how Yancey Braxton (soon to be Yancey B.) grew her horns. When I finished reading this book, I kinda wanted Harris to elaborate on the whole Trent situation. But I liked how he incorporated Kyle back into the story.

Summary: A Disappointing Conclusion
Review: First of all, I guess I will say what a lot of other readers have already said. I have read all of his other books and I especially loved "And This Too Shall Pass" and "Invisible Life". With that said, this is, without a doubt, his worst book to date. This book, like his others, was easy to read but it just felt so "fake". I didn't feel ANY of the characters this time around. Yes, the names were familiar but their ACTIONS weren't! I just felt like E. Lynn Harris should have left these characters alone after "Just As I Am" if this is what he's calling the conclusion! I kept waiting for this story to grab me like it has in his other books but it, unfortunately, never did. And, the ending was unsatisfying and left more questions than answers. And, I know that most people like Raymond but Basil has been my favorite character but even he couldn't save this mediocre book. Old fans of E. Lynn Harris will probably read it, like I did, because it's him but I'm warning you that this isn't his finest work but a long shot. Anyone who hasn't read a book by E. Lynn Harris should NOT start with this one. Read "Invisible Life" or "And This Too Shall Pass" instead.

Review: This was a good book and goes into the lives of gay afro-americans

Summary: Not his best
Review: This book was lacking something. There were alot of times in the book where it dragged and I was tempted to put it down. I was simply disappointed with this book. I don't think that E Lynn put enough thought into this one and so far it has been his worse.

Summary: Romans 10:9-14 - confusion was not part of His plan.
Review: I think this book clearly expressed a lot of confusion. These characters seem to not have a clear understanding of where they stand. Confusion was not part of God's plan. Homosexuality is abnormal. It's clearly a chemical imbalance. Yes, It's too harsh for the media to admit but it's the truth. Justifying it is not a cure. We were created either as man or woman not both. Emotions can be controlled - having emotions for someone of the same sex doesn't mean it's normal.

Get real! Stop justifying every mess that we claim to be truth. The truth is that woman was created for man (conversely).

Our actions will be judged - let's live right. E. Lynn Harris knows the truth. He needs to stop writting rubbish.

Summary: E. Lynn put's it all out on the table in this one!
Review: I read Any way the wind blows & Not a day goes by before I read Abide with me. If you happen to come into the series of E. Lynn's books and want more of the scoop on Basil's problems with his past, Raymond's lifestyle, the true 'not-so-divafied' evil side of Yancey and they're mutual friends...then you should start with this one! It'll help you put 'two & two together' on the lives and backgrounds of all of the characters.
