Rating: Summary: A vampire book that feels like a classic Hammer vampire film Review: From the first pages of the Prologue, BLOOD SCENT reads like a 70's Hammer Films classic vampire flick. I say that as a compliment. This vampire book will grab you by the neck and not let go until the last bite. Vampire fiction is a genre glutted with cliche characters, but this book dares to be different. The book takes place on Bayton Isle, a brooding, remote island off the coast of Maine, where the Karnov Family once ruled the land. The Karnov family of vampires is served up as sanguine morsels, but yet remain mysterious. I hope that Henderson will reveal more of this new line of vampires in future books. Lara Karnov, the black sheep of the Karnov lineage, Samantha Barnes, the eternal hope for Lara's salvation, and Carmen Montoya, hopelessly and dangerously involved with both, are characters richly painted in broad strokes of gothic color. As a matter of fact, although the story takes place in modern times, BLOOD SCENT has the feel of a classic gothic. BLOOD SCENT is a romance underneath it all, but the pictures you keep after reading this book will stay with you vividly and Lara Karnov is simply an unforgettable new addition to vampire fiction. The ending will surpise. If you want something different in vampires, read BLOOD SCENT. [....]
Rating: Summary: A very 'toothsome' erotic vampire romance. Review: In this highly descriptive, erotic vampire thriller, Patty G. Henderson creates a dynamic tale of soul-mated lovers and a curse that can only be broken to by love. BLOOD SCENT is set on Bayton Isle, off the coast of Maine, where within the dread stillness of Karnov Mansion, a ritual of blood sustains vampire Lara Karnov until her beloved returns to free her from the evil heritage of her family. Commissioned to do a landscape painting by the Bayton Isle National Bank, artist Samantha Barnes feels herself drawn to the dark and forbidding Karnov mansion. Soon she becomes obsessed with the long dead and mysterious Lara Karnov whose tragic fate seems to coincide with the nightmares of blood and death that have plagued Samantha since childhood. Is Samantha the "chosen one" destined to fulfill the Karnov legend and will her love be strong enough to break the terrible curse? BLOOD SCENT is not a traditional vampire tale. Told from a unique viewpoint, it makes for a wonderful read.
