Rating: Summary: An All Too Rare Find.... Review: 'Cold' is one of those rare finds in lesbian fiction, a novel with smart dialogue, enough heart to make you truly care about the characters, AND a solid, interesting plot. Jo is content to enjoy her family's wealth, frequent trysts, and her rather meaningless existence. Until she meets Rocky, that is, a young woman who chose a life of poverty and danger on the harsh streets of London in an attempt to outrun her painful past. When these two very different lives collide, each woman is changed forever. The story draws the reader in early and keeps your interest throughout. In short, you'll be tempted to try and read through this tale in one sitting, just so you don't have to put it down. The relationship that erupts between the leads is fragile and romantic and eventually becomes the backbone of this wonderful debut novel. Even pacing and a deft handling of the sometimes gritty subject matter give the story solid legs. Don't miss this one. It's well worth the purchase.
Rating: Summary: Completely unrealistic and big disappointment. Review: Completely unrealistic to believe that she'll be able to find one beleaguered blonde among the thousands of men and women trying to stay alive on the cold, hard streets of London. Yet she did. However, the story was completely unrealistic and unbelievable. The overall story left me somewhat irritated at the writer for the liberties she took, expecting the reader to fillin in the blanks. Although a good effort, until those parts that left you wanting are revised, this book just doesn't rate more than a good effort, and do try again.
Rating: Summary: Dark side of story wasn't developed! Review: First to mention a previous review posted here, the person must have the wrong book. Ice and Angel belong to another book. This book had an old theme - rich woman meets and falls in love with poor woman - but that's where the oldness ends. It is a refreshingly different concept. With a few twists and turns in it. The concept sounds unbelievable, but it is written in a manner that makes it perfectly believable. By the time you finish the book you will have a real understanding as to why these two women belong together. There are also some action/adventure touches to this book that were a surprising twist. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that there were a couple of places where I felt problems were worked out a just little to easy. But that was only my perception of the situation. Overall it was a very enjoyable book. It held true to all I expected of it. This is not a hot/steamy sex book. It is, however, a very excellent romance/love tale. I would highly recommend it.

Rating: Summary: Best Book Of The Year Review: I am a pushover for a well written lesbian romance..and this story not only "tugged at my broken heart strings"...it reminded me that LOVE can be patient and at the same time very SEXY!! I had a difficult time putting this book down once I started reading. There were several times I cried while I was reading it. I felt like I could really feel what the characters were feeling. In fact, . Keep up the good work Alison Carpenter Hope to see more from you Very Soon
Rating: Summary: Authenticity Review: I found "Cold" to be a riveting read -- it kept me turning pages until 1:30 in the morning -- with an added plus: It had authentic detail that made me feel as if I'd been transported to England. Kudos to the publisher for not editing out brand names, language, etc., that wouldn't be instantly familiar to American readers. It made an already compelling story even better.
Rating: Summary: Very Nice Review: I really like how the story is made except for some of the over dramatization of the characters. For example how Rocky one of the main characters keep on refusing the help of the very rich Joanna, when Joanna made it clear that Rocky is everythig to her. I mean come on be happy already ! ...I thought I was gonna explode just to get the story going. But other than that , I really like the read of it. This story has the whole reincarnation thing happening like when they went places and its like both of them has been there before .
Rating: Summary: Somebody Help Us Review: Please, somebody, write a book that does not have 250 pages of two guilt ridden women having nightmare issues, being exhausted (all the time), needing food, feeling they are not good enough for each other and of course the ever present elderly, wise, advice toting grand mother character. This book had the girls sleeping (in each others arms of course) WAY too much. The only one of these uber stories that did not get old after the 1st chapter was the trilogy about Ice and Angel. The action was good, but not enough of it and way too mushy. We want adventure and some new story lines!!
Rating: Summary: Dark side of story wasn't developed! Review: Time should have been spend developing the relationship between the characters. The concept was good, but the overall plot wasn't executed as one would expect. If you are going to write about the dark side of anyone, you should make the reader feel it. That didn't happen here. Overall, the story was weak, but because of the writing, I would probably buy the authors next attempt.
