Rating: Summary: BRAVO Review: From Yancey's Big Regin to That's the Way Love Goes I was in aw.Could not wait to read what was going to happend next.To see each character take a good look at his or her life and try to make a change was surreal. Ava getting her comeuppance,Basil relizing that Raymond had always loved him; and getting the child he always wanted was iceing on the cake. They all fell down but they all got up. Each character finding closure for his life, the things they had done rather right or wrong; even the newest one Bart. E. Lynns best work todate in the series and I have read and own them all. BRAVO, BRAVO, BARAVO.
Rating: Summary: Good read but not his best. Review: While I did enjoy reading his book, it wasn't his best work. I just kept reading thinking that it was going to be some really big bang at the end. Like I said, it was a nice book, but I don't think he'll ever out do his self like he did when he made "Just As I Am." I cried so much off of that book. While this one didn't make me cry, there are a few parts in here that will have you laughing.....read the book!
Rating: Summary: Great Book! You must buy it!!! Review: He's done it again!!! I couldn't put this book down! It's the first book I ever read in one day! (It just came out yesterday, July 10th). Brilliant writing, wonderful characters, rich content!! Our main characters, Basil, Yancey and Ava, are back in full force! Your heart will race as the plot thickens on each page! Basil is back to his old tricks...with men...and gets caught; Yancey sings a hit record...about being dumped on her wedding day after discovering her fiance is bisexual; Bart, a new character, plots revenge with Ava (Yancey's evil monster...I mean "mother"); Cameo appearance by Raymond Tyler!! YOU'LL LOVE IT!!!
Rating: Summary: The "beach read" that touches on many aspects of life Review: I was surprised to find out that E. Lynn Harris was continuing the storyline that began with Invisible Life. I felt that there wasn't much more to squeeze out the plot after Not a Day Goes By. In fact, I was reluctant to even read this book, because I felt that Mr. Harris was just milking a cash cow at this point. (Whatever happened to that autobiography he mentioned last year?)Having said that, I salute him for melding gay and heterosexual lives. I think most heterosexual people don't know about what goes on in gay culture, and too often gay people stick to their own selves. I think we have learned quite a bit about one another throughout his novels. I do get a little tired of the "name dropping" that goes on, page after page, in Mr. Harris' novels. It does make the story seem more real, but in thirty years, I'm willing to bet that few young people will recognize right away who "Beyonce" is! Well, I should mention that I'm not finished with the novel yet, but I am still hoping for a "feel-good" gay scenario. It seems that former protagonist Raymond Tyler had a feel-good ending, but that was two novels ago, and he seems like a distant memory. I am really starting to tire of the pratfalls of gay culture that surface in most chapters, whether it be the pathetic, older gay man or the desperate "mofos" that Basil and Bart take advantage of.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: All true fans of Mr. Harris will be thrilled with this latest offering. You are reading this book feeling like you can feel the pain of both Basil and Yancey, and the secrets that way them down. The book takes you through many twists but delights with each page turn. In the end you applaude the decisions that both Basil and Yancey make in their lives. You also think Basil has finally found out he has a heart.
Rating: Summary: Is definitely off the hook!!! Review: Yesterday as this book hit the shelves, I was there ready to snatch it up. I was expecting it to be a wonderful book and my predictions proved to be correct. I'm only in the first couple of pages and this book is definitely off da hook!! I want E. Lynn to know that he has done it again and I hope he continues to go for it. If one likes the other books in this series, Any Way the Wind Blows should be on your list. I hate to sound like I work for the publising company that sells it, but its incredible...
Rating: Summary: Wonderful, Just Wonderful! Review: I am a huge fan of E. Lynn Harris. I have read everything he has written. Anyway The Wind Blows brings back the characters from Not A Day Goes By (Yancey, Basil, & Ava). Raymond Tyler makes a cameo apearance, and there is a new character, Bart. Yancey is usy being the diva she was born to be. Her singing career finally takes off. She is way past the days of Broadway. What surpises me is the fact that she comes forth with the truth about Madison. She ends up being a totally different person than the person we first met. Basil is still walking on both sides of the fence. Bart is bold enough to actually try and catch him out there (of course with the help of Ava who thinks she still has a score to settle). Basil finally gets something he's wanted for a long time. You'll have to read and find out what it is. In his darkest hour, Raymond Tyler comes to his rescue. He learns who his real friends are. Nico, definitly isn't someone I see in Bro. Harris' next book. Any Way The Wind Blows was not Bro. Harris' best work, but it was still worth it. I can't wait for the next book.
Rating: Summary: Good follow up only to be left hanging Review: I loved this book. A great follow-up to Not A Day Goes By. Mr. Harris is a master storyteller.
I would have rated it a 5 but I was left hanging with Basil. It was a great build up to fizzled ending..His partners find out that he's homosexual, he denies it, than you don't here much more about it.
Rating: Summary: I could see it all in my head as I read it! Review: I have read all of E. Lynn Harris' books and this by far was my favorite. Basil and Yancey have to be one the best love/hate couples ever created. The sad thing is that the relationship probably would have had a better chance of survival if that crazy mother of Yancey's "Ava" hadn't been trying to sabatage things for Yancey. Can you believe she actually called her own daugther the "b" word. What kind of mother is that? But at the end of the next novel you really find out how crazy she is. The Harris novels only get better and better. I can't wait for the next one. I guarantee you Basil will probably be in it. Just look at the pattern. I am glad that he finally had a child. That's something he really wanted. I'm also glad that he got to finally start to find out the real truth about his mother and bonded with his half sister and her son who looks just like him. Basil needed somebody to calm his hot tail down. Can't wait for the next novel Mr. Harris!
Rating: Summary: Be Prepared to Lose Sleep! Review: Oh, . . . not in a bad way. But once you start reading, you won't be able to stop until you've turned the last page. Just like every other E. L. book in my collection, 'Any Way the Wind Blows', is stained by chinese food and falling in the tub, because I refuse to part with it until I'm done. E. L. let's us know that love is love, any way the wind blows!
