Summary: The Review
Review: As always when I hear that Mr. Harris has a new book coming out I am out of control and can't wait until I have his new book in my hand.

Well, I got his new book, read it, and felt that it was okay. Not his best work.

To much going on and sadly not enough.

Whats with Sean? Sean acting like some bitter queen and/or person (smile) to Basil. Whats with that? This is surely not the Sean that we met back in, And This Too Shall Pass.

I understand people change but this is a big stretch. What else was there? Ava, the surprise at the end, Bart acting the way he is, Raymond making a surprise visit, and was he flirting with Basil?

Mr. Harris has spoiled me and therefore I expect nothing less but his last three books have been okay.

That however does not mean that I am gong to stop buying his books as he is still one of my favorite authors and I will continue to buy his books once they come out.

Happy reading.......

Summary: Good Read, but it's time to move on...
Review: Any Way The Wind Blows was a good read, but the characters (new) weren't as developed as other character in the past, but I imagine that's because it's time to put the Basil saga to bed. The ending was kind of rushed and things were kind of "wrapped up" but again, it was a good read. This would have been a good FIRST try for some other author, but it was a little beneath Harris. Again, I think it's time to put the saga to bed and try something else.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: I have been an E. Lynn Harris fan for years! This latest book was just not interesting to me. It seemed like it was the same old plot, nothing really new or exciting. Normally, I read his books within a couple of days. This one was kind of boring to me. Maybe I was expecting too much, but this one didn't do it for me. The characters lacked depth and the plot wasn't juicy like in his last books. I'd hate to stop being a fan and hopefully I'm not "outgrowing" his books. PLEASE produce something better next time, Mr. Harris!

Summary: Beach book.
Review: If you love E. Lynn Harris then you've probably already bought the book. If you are a new reader then get ready to be entertained. This is a weekend/beach book. It's fun but lighter than air. The plot is interesting but the characters are not well developed. It's the same ole, same ole that Harris has been tossing out for years.

Summary: I am Disappointed
Review: If you are an E. Lynn Harris fan, please purchase the book. If you are a first timer, I suggest you start from his first novel and work your way up, so you can have a better understanding of the plots and characters. I can honestly say that I am an E. Lynn Harris fan. I have all of his books and I have enjoyed them. I get so excited when I hear another sequel has arrived. I was quite excited when I heard "Any Way The Wind Blows" had arrived. I started reading and I realized that it was not an excellent read like the other books he has had published. I don't know if he is losing in sight on his theme or is it that his main characters have dominated the scene for so long it is time to put them to rest. Whatever it is I hope he gets back on track very soon. It was a very easy read. When I finished I didn't have any positive emotions about the book. I felt cheated, very cheated. I will be attending his book signing on August 24, 2001 and I am going to express my disappointment with this novel. Even though I am not happy with this Novel, it doesn't change my feelings. "I AM AN E. LYNN HARRIS FAN FOR LIFE!"

Summary: Just Fabulous!!
Review: E. Lynn does it again! He takes us on another journey through the lives and minds of our beloved characters while keeping us in touch with the old unforgettable favorites. Although I liked this book, I was looking for moreintrigue and a more electricfying ending. I wish that he would not have revealed Yancey and Basil's stalkers so that it would leave us wondering and waiting for the next novel. However, there is still more of this story to tell and I hope that Ms. Ava Middlebrooks will be the main character. She has ditched a lot of dirt and she deserves to be ditched on!

Summary: Sad state of literature
Review: I was sorely dissapointed after reading this book. I enjoyed all of the previous novels which I felt were filled with honest heartfelt renditions and this book was a tabloid, commercial imitation. Abide with me was also dissapointing and I bought this book hoping that Harris would redeem him self but sadly it was not so. This book lack a strong and serious story line. The characters lack depth or purpose and the book is a tawdry slick commericialized imitation of Harris's previous honest literary efforts. I would advise him to take time with his next few novel like he obviously did with the first ones

Summary: This book will set a world's record in reading
Review: I SWEAR. I read this book in two and a half days. I just couldn't put it down. One recommendation though. You must read, "Not A Day Goes By" first; or you will be totally lost with the story. I'm still worried about Yancy Braxton still going through her split-personality lifestyle regarding being a diva. And I'm glad that Basil will be finally deciding on choosing a side instead of flipping back and forth. But then again, I could be wrong. That's why I hope that Mr. Harris decides to write a third installment of this wonderful story. And being a native New Yorker; I enjoyed the in-depth descriptions of the goings on of the characters around the city.

Summary: Off the Chains!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Time for a new subject
Review: ...It was entertaining at best, but not the least bit challenging. I have read all of E. Lynn's books and I have enjoyed them all, some more than others. This one is probably at the bottom of the list. This was not a bad book, it just lacked substance and I'm used to a little more than that from E. Lynn.

This story continues the relationship between two selfish individuals -- Yancey, the spoiled Broadway actress-turned singer and Basil, the ex-NFL star known for his romps with women AND men. In the last book, Basil let Yancey at the alter after he discovered who she really was. Yancey also found out a thing or two about Basil. This latest book picks up after each person has gone on with his/her life. Basil is a successful sports agent and Yancey is a top singer who was signed by Motown. I had trouble following this unbelieveble rise to stardom. I know I was reading 'fiction', but it was just so hard to believe how quickly Yancey had become a star. A new character in Bart Dunbar is introduced and he seemed to be a gay version of Basil, except he wasn't an athlete.

At any rate the books flows quickly, moving between each person's story. Each character has some flaw and/or secret and by the end of the book, each one has learned how to "handle and/or face up to his or her life. I felt E. Lynn wrapped up the ending the chapters too quickly, not that there was much to wrap up.

Also, I got so tired of the name-dropping. It was so pretentious. A entertaining book doesn't have to be filled with names of entertainers.

All in all, I finished this book hoping that we don't hear any more from Basil and Yancey. There's no more life left in that story. And, I truly hope that we don't hear from Bart any more. I really don't care what happens to him. Most times I'm always wondering what happened to a character, but that's only when the book is well-written.

I love E. Lynn as an author and I truly hope that he's working on a much more interesting, complicated story than this last one. I hate to see him underestimate his readers and their loyalty. I think he knows that we will buy his books no matter what and I think that was what happened with this book.

Patiently waiting on a 'new' story from E. Lynn...
