Rating: Summary: Anyway The Wind Blows Review: Bravo! Bravo! E lynn Harris certainly did again! I'd been waiting on the release of another book by this author which seemed like eternity. I must say that Harris never ceases to amaze me. The infamous Mr Basil Henderson is back! still up to his old tricks, I wonder if he'll ever change (you ask yourself?. Only this time he is paired with what seemed like the forever evil, wicked, Yancey Braxton, who, suprisingly in this novel, receives a wake up call!!!. She meets a wonderful person by the name of Windsor, who, irrespective of Yancey;'s nature, see the soul within this apparent demon. I believe in giving people the benefit of my doubt, so I kept my mind open to the probability of change in terms of Yancy ways!! I had hoped though, that her scheming and manipulative character would of continued, as it added spice! to his books. The so together, so orderely Raymond Tyler Junior rears his head once again, this time in the role as Basil's advisor/confidant and attorney. Bizarre I know! I do think that Raymond has a story to tell about his relationship with Kevin (you really need to read between the lines for this one) as the focus is on Basil. The author leaves this interpretation to our own minds and ways of thinking. Sorry! I don't want to give the whole plot away so i'll cease here! This is a "MUST READ NOVEL", and if you have no other E Lynn Harris novels, this will tell you a little about his excellent ability to take us on his wonderful, magical journey into the world of him.
Rating: Summary: Left Me Hanging At the End, But definitely A good Read Review: A Must Have... especially if you're a Harris fan! I love the plots and twists. In this book, E. Lynn continues to enlighten the average Joe/Jane on the often unseen lifesyle of the middle-class black gay male. I love it. The lingo, the mind-set, the honesty... Who wouldnt enjoy a book like this?? But I feel like the 1st reviewer: What ever happened to Ava? What was next with Yancey & Desmond? Did Basil eventually move back to Florida? And whatever became of XJI? A lot of unanswered questions.... In addition, I'm really kinda tired of all these people. It's time for all of them to retire. E. Lynn, we're tired of Basil, his pretty-boy grey eyes & his no-good tactics. Although I was glad to finally see him 1/2-way busted, I think it's time to let him rest. The same with Yancey's cry-baby self. Bring us some new characters, completely fresh & new. Im looking forward to the next novel! KD
Rating: Summary: I could see it all in my head as I read it! Review: I have read all of E. Lynn Harris' books and this by far was my favorite. Basil and Yancey have to be one the best love/hate couples ever created. The sad thing is that the relationship probably would have had a better chance of survival if that crazy mother of Yancey's "Ava" hadn't been trying to sabatage things for Yancey. Can you believe she actually called her own daugther the "b" word. What kind of mother is that? But at the end of the next novel you really find out how crazy she is. The Harris novels only get better and better. I can't wait for the next one. I guarantee you Basil will probably be in it. Just look at the pattern. I am glad that he finally had a child. That's something he really wanted. I'm also glad that he got to finally start to find out the real truth about his mother and bonded with his half sister and her son who looks just like him. Basil needed somebody to calm his hot tail down. Can't wait for the next novel Mr. Harris!
Rating: Summary: Good read but not one of his better books. Review: I just finished reading this book in 2 days I must say that this was a good read but definitely NOT one of his better ones. I thought it was a bit soap opera-ish and the characters didn't really make me care for them. Basil was never one of my favorite characters until now. He seems too finally seen the light. I hope it stays that way. The book appeared to be an exact replica of "Not A Day Goes By"...you can definitely categorize this as a sequel to "Not A Day Goes By". But I felt a little cheated. I was under the impression that we were going to found out more about Basil. Why is Basil the way he turned out. Don't get me wrong this book is a good book to read with lots of twists and surprises in store but I was expecting more intimate and background information on Basil Henderson. I did enjoy the way it ended. It was totally unexpecting and heartwarming. E Lynn Harris if you are reading this...please write more on Raymond Tyler. He is definitely one of my favorite characters. Read the book but don't expect another version of "Invisible Life" or "Just As I Am". Those 2 books are CLASSICS!
Rating: Summary: I'd rate it six stars if I could Review: This book is E. Lynn Harris's best to date. I read this book in two sittings. It's funny to see how Yancey transformed into the diva see is now from Abide With Me to this one. I love the way Harris weaves his different books together in a way that if you haven't read a single one of his books, you'll still know what he's talking about. This book is a definite must have.
Rating: Summary: Be Prepared to Lose Sleep! Review: Oh, . . . not in a bad way. But once you start reading, you won't be able to stop until you've turned the last page. Just like every other E. L. book in my collection, 'Any Way the Wind Blows', is stained by chinese food and falling in the tub, because I refuse to part with it until I'm done. E. L. let's us know that love is love, any way the wind blows!
Rating: Summary: ANOTHER GREAT ONE Review: In this Harris novel we discover some things about some of the charaters in the previous novels. All I can say is if you've never read a Harris novel then you need to start at the begining....with INVISIBLE LIFE and then work your way down. You won't be disappointed thats for sure. But to fully understand this novel you MUST go to the begining with Harris' first novel.
Rating: Summary: WOULD U EXPECT N E THING ELSE BUT THE BEST Review: HE HAS DONE IT AGAIN. I CAN NEVER GET TIRED OF MR JOHN BASIL HENDERSON HE IS JUST AN INTENSE CHARACTER. A LIL DISSAPOINTED AT THE END THOU THE LAST 2 PAGES DOESN'T MAKE THE BOOK BAD. I MEAN ITS E LYNN AT HIS BEST U CANT ASK 4 N E THING MORE
Rating: Summary: A great book Review: I truely enjoyed this book. It kept my attention during the whole read and had me guessing what would happen next. Basil is truely a character. Its get no better than him! He is the biggest dog, but in the end instead of punishing him, you want to cuddle up next to him and take away his pain. Very good read!
Rating: Summary: A sequel even better than it's predecessor Review: Let me start off by saying this book was close to five stars - an easy four-and-a-half stars, if that rating were available... Nothing sells like controversy What's amazing about this book to me is that, even though "Not a Day Goes By" was great, I felt like this one solidified the characters more in my mind - it seemed more well-rounded, and even better-written. I could sympathize with all the characters, even Bart and Ava (two of the more evil creatures I've encountered in popular fiction) - well, at least Bart, as Ava is a completely lost cause.P>By the end some lessons are learned, and some have still yet to be learned - like in life. I really can't tell you how much I enjoyed this book, except that I am already halfway through ITS sequel...when done. Thanks...
