Summary: Good read for the open minded
Review: I enjoyed reading this book. It is a good book if you want to take a lazy day and get lost in your own little world. We know that the two main characters in this book are female lovers, but never is there a point where the run around screaming "we're lesbians and proud!" It is a well written book. It isn't written to help create tolerance, it is just a love story between two women who just happen to be women. I highly recommened this book to anyone (but it helps a lot more if you are open minded).

Summary: Almost 5 stars, but...
Review: I found this book very good, better than many others. I liked the plot, the way the love story was developed and the way they ended up being. Brownrigg's language was beautiful and her story-telling technique certainly deserves to be praised.

However, the reason why I didn't give it the full 5 stars, is that I think Pages for you could have been so much more. I think it was lacking some intensity that could (and should) have been there, in the relationship of these women. Especially in the beginning, when their relationship was only a daydream in Flannery's little head. I think it was all too "easy", having been to a similar situation of being in love with someone who's far from being my peer. Maybe I am a whimp then, but I found Flannery's braveness in the first steps incredible. Or was she just too young and innocent to fear the possible, unpleasant consequences?

Personally, I think that this novel would have been better had it been written in first person. The third person narrative seems too distant in order to let the reader fully relate to the characters.

Anyhow, by making these critical remarks I am not saying that I disliked the book. It's a great work of literature, really. It's hard to put down and when it ended I felt like I wanted more. And still about the narration: I really liked the way the narrator plays with time. In between the passages about the "present" in Flannery's world, there are remarks about her future. It's also quite fascinating to realize what exactly the prologue is talking about and when.

Overall, definitely worth reading!

Summary: Greatest book
Review: I love this book it was a very good I couldn't put it down. Their was some stuff that was like wow you know it was just a great book. I think everyone needs to read this so everyone know what it's like. The characters take you on this ride of emotions and it doesn't stop until the end that's all I have to say. I think if people read this book then they would kinda think before they act I'm not saying anything bad or anything but can we think before we judge thanks.

Summary: Absolutely Fantastic
Review: I loved this book so much, after i read it, i couldnt go into my room without picking it up and flicking through it, catching scattered sentences that threw me once more back into the ever absorbing story. Perhaps its my empathy with the theme, or the ease in which i can relate to the characters and their feelings, but the way the book is written, the development of the central figures as they discover each other captured me totally. The quirky and witty conversations and discussions, as well as the settings and descriptions makes this book much more than a soppy love story. Give this book a read! you wont regret it.

Summary: Beautiful words
Review: I was amazed at the lyricism inthis book. It shook me to my core, and had me copying out passages to read and re-read.

Summary: I've never read anything like it!
Review: I was looking for a good lesbian book when I came across this one. Have you ever read a book where you just can't read fast enough for your liking? That's what this book does to me. It's wonderfully written and the characters are people that most everyone can relate to. I like that the chapters begin where the last one left off, rather than skipping a few days, because you feel like you are really there with the characters. Great book! I recommend it to most anyone!

Summary: Oh my goodness. To be 17 again.
Review: I would have loved to have given this book 5 stars, as it's images lingered and inspired me for days. However, it is not a literary classic in any sense.
That being said, it is a passionate, youthful, nostalgic tale that is inventively and lovingly told. Anyone who has felt the fire of a white-hot intense first love affair (which always go awry) will be transported into the mind and heart of Flannery. You know how delicious every new "first" can be, and these are beautifully captured and explored. You also know, with bittersweet wisdom, that the young woman will ultimately not have a happy ending with her older lover and teacher, despite their wonderfully told passion for each other. Yet knowing this does not take away from the story in any way.
This reads much like a 3 act play, and act 2 is gorgeously erotic without having to resort to any graphic ... descriptions. Refreshing. A lovely tale, worth reading, and re-reading.

Summary: Not worth the trouble
Review: If you like lesbian soft-core, you may like this book. If you're looking for something with more than a nominal plot, look elsewhere. The book is sophomoric, repetitive and predictable.

Summary: Pages for Us
Review: In beautiful, short and evocative chapters, Brownrigg tells the story of Flannery, a first-year college student, who falls in love with Anne, a teaching assistant a decade her senior. The passion between these two women is honestly and powerfully drawn by the author. I was a little concerned about the age difference between the two as well as the fact that Anne could be abusing her power with an undergraduate. Once I got over these hurdles (and we shouldn't ignore them...what if Anne were a Walter?), I fell under the spell of their love and Flannery's not-so-surprising heartbreak. This is a well-crafted, haunting book that will conjur up vivid memories of one's first encounter with passionate love.

Summary: Didn't live up to Potential
Review: Pages for you had potential to be a good book. It had a good plot, it had two intresting and developed leads, but it the book could have been so much more. The book also was set up in a funny way, which prevented the book from flowing in the way a novel should. It was an okay read, but if you can avoid spending $10+ on it, do so.
