Summary: Resonates With an Entertaining Story
Review: Travel with the "Roadies" on a cross-country concert tour while Lori L. Lake spins a tale fuller and richer than any of your favorite CDs. Thrill with folksinger Kip Galvin as she gets her big break, filling in as the introductory act for a headliner. Agonize with stage manager Jaime Esperanza as her ill-conceived love life shuffles from good to bad to worse. Go from dislike to scorn to pity for superstar Lacey Leigh Jaxon as she manipulates her alcoholic way along the top of the heap, tossing lovers aside with less feeling than she tosses her whiskey.

Lake twines these lives together like a skilled electrician snaking wires on a concert stage. But nothing can harness the situation's volatility, and sparks fly when the women lower their insulating defenses. Shocked at the power of her own reactions, Kip bolts from the circuit, leaving Jaime to sort through her tangled emotions while still enmeshed in Lacey Leigh's magnetic grasp. Will she have the strength to break this attraction and find the one true love she yearns for? Does such a love exist?

Noted for her powerful characterization, authentic detail, and heart-clenching stories, Lake twangs another successful chord with Different Dress. Not one to skimp on realism, she gained an invitation for a walk-through on the Indigo Girls' tour bus and sound stage. Because of this drive for truth, Different Dress resonates not only with an entertaining story, but also with accurate descriptions of behind-the-scenes activities of a cross-country group. The book will delight all readers, but with its concert stage settings and original song lyrics, it will especially electrify those who are music lovers.

Summary: One Of The Best
Review: Well, Lori Lake has done it again. Different Dress in not Lori's usual cop, love story, but an exceptional read. Lacey Leigh is someone we all have met at sometime. I know she sure reminds me of someone I use to know, and things ended about the same. This book is great. The characters so real. You have heartache, and people putting their lives back together, you have desire, but not to where everything else takes a back seat. In other words, you have a great story with characters most of us can relate to.Lori, once again you have made my day.And people, if you don't have the CD Glad Game, Hydraulic Women. Get the book, get the Cd. I promise you won't be disappointed in either.

Summary: Buy a copy for a readaholic friend!
Review: Wow!! I love this book! It has stayed in my mind, weeks after reading it, causing me to reflect again and again on various points of the story. As usual with a Lori Lake book, it's a wonderful, well-written tale, full of real life people and real life dilemmas. Did you know Lori spent some time with the Indigo Gilrs and their tour show, garnering research material for the stage set-ups and techno-detail? Ms. Lake is developing into a master (or should I say Mistress?) of what she does best--producing great lesbian novels. Can't wait for the next one.
