Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: See your life or the life of a Gay Black male you may know Review: Invisible Life when first published was long over due. In my mind it will always be the launching pad for current and future writings that explore the world of African American same gender loving (SGL) men. Though Invisible Life is a fictional story, it reaches into the real world of so many African American (and non African American) gay men. The conflicts with family, friends, community, career and most importantly... self, are all encounters that Ray must confront as he looks at the real man in the mirror. If you've not read Invisible Life, but have read other books by E. Lynn Harris, you owe it to yourself to go back and live Ray's beginnings. I'm glad to see that E. Lynn Harris' publisher has reissued a Special Edition of Invisible Life in hardback. It's a fine tribute to E. Lynn Harris' quest to ensure that books centered around African American gay men are brought to the forefront and not continuosly overlooked or placed on the backshelf of bookstores around the country. While I think everyone should read this book, African American gay men must.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Excellent Review: Either you completely understand and love this book or you just don't get it. I got every point and enjoyed every moment! It was as clear to me as watching a film. This is the kind of book you can't put down until you finish. Then AFTER YOUR DONE you still have to go back and read certain parts over to make sure you understand. Overall I loved the book and I can't wait to read the sequel!

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: I thought this book was great. Review: I loved this book. I read this book in one day. I could not put it down. It lets you into a world most people would not venture into. Or so we think. I liked his style of writing. Some parts of this book I laughed out loud. Others had me thinking a great deal. I believe it is definitly time for this kind of book. So many people are so scared to even talk about their sexuality. Maybe this will help some of them. I will be reading all of his other books.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Black Male Searches For Love and Happiness Review: Romance, comedy, heartache, disappointment, and love. This is what you will find in Invisible Life. The book follows the life of Raymond Tyler(Ray) from his college years as a senior to the peak of his adult years as a lawyer. He meets Kelvin as a senior who shows him the other side of male sexuality. Raymond struggles to keep this secret from his girlfriend Sela, and also his family. Invisible Life shows how hard it is for a male to black and and also go through the difficulties of being gay or bisexual. If you have an open mind, this book is for you. Not only do you have to have an open mind, but also an open heart.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: One of the greatest books of our time Review: I have read quite a few books on the topic of race and homosexuality, and no one expressed the pain and suffering like Harris. Mr. Harris has given those people who do not have actual experience with these issues a rather accurate dipiction. It is one of those novels that you just can not put down until the last page is turned. I recommend it to everyone.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Okay Plot with sub-par descriptive prose Review: I liked the story. It was my first experience with reading a book about bisexuality. Dialogue was the best part. Characters were not well-developed - I felt like I hardly knew his female love interest. Description was horrendous. Complete lack of colorful prose. I think this book derives its popularity from the fact that it is about bisexuality. If you like soap operas, you'll probably like this book. Though it is my first, it is definitely my last read of his work. Not worth the money I spent for it.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: One of the best books I've read in a long time! Review: This is definitely one of the most interesting books I have ever read. Harris's characters are so real I can feel their joy and their pain. I finished the book in just hours and I could not put it down. I went out the next day to buy the sequel, and I can't stop reading that one either!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: E. Lynn Harris is a great author. Review: This was a great book. It had me on pins and needles as every secret unfolded. It gave me a great insight and a better unstanding for guy people. This book made it easier to except gay people into my surroundings. It brough out a lot of stero-types, fears, and hopes. E. Lynn Harris is a great author and I can not wait to read Just As I Am.
