Summary: An enjoyable read
Review: Mr. Harris is a skilled writer. While some people said they did not think that there was depth to the characters, I found them deeply moving. As a white gay man, there were times I felt left out of the understandign but as a gay man I can relate to the struggle that Raymond went through. I read this book in 3 days and when it was over I really felt I had a better understanding of the black gay community. Enjoyable, touching and educational.

Summary: Distorted View
Review: Before reading Invisible Life I considered myself to be a open-minded person, now I'm not too sure. I wanted to drown myself in the pages of the book and become one with the characters. Unfortunately, I found myself having to put it away at times so that I continue to stomach the pages to come. The homosexual nature of the novel distorted my judgement of the book and E. Lynn Harris. I could not appreciate the true genius behind the work because of my discomfort with homosexuality. As Raymond struggles to decide what or who is more important, I found it hard to be sympathetic. If you have a problem with homosexuality I suggest leaving this one on the shelf so that Harris can be appreciated by those who are more receptive to the lifestyle. I know he is a good writer and I would hate for anyone to give damaging criticism based on their own uneasiness. E. Lynn Harris, I appreciate your literary contribution but it just isn't for me.

Summary: BRILLIANTLY ENLIGHTENING!
Review: How dumb was I? Believe me, you don't want to know. This book was intelligently written and engaging. It allowed a "peek" into the elusive life of the gay/bi male. Boy, were my eyes-wide-shut! LOVE IT!

Summary: EYE OPENING and POWERFUL. Looking for the movie
Review: Invisible Life was truly an eye opening and bold story. I read this book in a day! I just couldn't put it down! From page one I was pulled in and left wanting more. This story introduced us to characters such as Raymond, Sela, Basil, Kelvin, Kyle, Nicole and Candance to name a few. The choices and paths they choose to take and how they affect the ones they love. The story also shows how secrets infest and destroy relationships. It's a story that sheds light on gay men and the lifestyle they lead. You're able to get a better understanding of these men and their world. This book showed me that regardless of our sexual desires, we're all human with needs, fears and desires. I know men who've struggled with their sexuality and what's "politically correct", according to society. I'm glad E.Lynn Harris gave a voice to this world and showed us the good, the bad and ugly. This is thought provoking novel your's sure to enjoy. Thanks E.Lynn for a wonderful book on a beauitful morning.

Summary: Get your Coffee while you read this book!
Review: This book was extremely boring, it was definately not a page turning. I expected more because of the rumors of the plot and from the Amazon reviews. If someone asked me what the book was about, all I can say is "I don't know, it was a little bit of a love story and an attempt to explain homosexuality." I doubt I will read the continuation. Get your coffee while reading.

Summary: A wonderful story...
Review: This is the first of E. Lynn Harris's works I have read and I really enjoyed it. It's also a first I've read of the Gay genre. This book has made me realize that you can't control who you fall in love with (be it male or female). And though many people are appalled at gay/lesbian relationships, Raymond, in this story, was only following his heart.

Summary: Informative & Colorful
Review: These are the words that I would use to describe this novel. This book opens the invisible door of the invisible life to let the reader have a peek and see what is on the other side. I have known several gay people in my life and though I realized that things are hard for them, I never realized how complicated life can be for gay males. I never realized that there are so many undercover African-American gay men. From Harris' descriptions, some of these characters can be your brother, son, father, boyfriend, or husband and you would never even know it.

For those unfamiliar with the Invisible Life, Harris' novel is a creative and colorful eye-opener. When you finish a good piece of literary material you are supposed to walk away with something. If the novel doesn't change you or touch part of your soul that you never knew existed - it isn't a good novel. This one is.

This novel blends its cocoa colored characters, whose conflicting and powerful emotions keep the reader racing to finish pages, and the very real and painful lifestyle of the black male in America.

If you have never read any books about homosexuality or bisexuality, read this one. It will inform you and keep you entertained. The bible does prohibit homosexuality , but it also says love thy neighbor as thyself. The best way to begin to love someone is to understand them. If you want to really grow intellectually and spritually, read this book. It is one of the greats.

Review: Extraordinarily excellent! I would recommend this book to anyone. Keep up the good work, Mr. Harris.

Summary: Brings you into their world
Review: E. Lynn Harris does a wonderful job transporting you into the life of Raymond, a gay man from the South. He brings all his characters to life and makes you feel that you are actually there. Great read!

Summary: Enlightment
Review: This book was excellent. I am just now discovering E. Lynn Harris, only because he recently came to my city and everyone was raving about him. I had to find out why. I read this book in two days, really 1 1/2 days. I have already moved to the next book and in the process of purchasing more. This book gave me a deeper understanding of bisexuality and the similar feelings they have with hetetosexuals. It was a page turner. I recommend this to anyone who believes our minds can be open.
