The first time I read it I cried because I saw myself right in Raymond's eyes. I think E. Lynn Harris captured every bisexual man's feelings in this book. After I read this book I promptly started buying his other offerings. You should also.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Great! Review: I loved this book, I read it twice! I couldn't put the book down. I like how the author diversify the sexualities of each person in the story. It's a great book if you're open-minded or want to know the truth about lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender folks. I think this portraits them better than the mass media.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Wasn't my cup of tea Review: This book was recommended as good reading. Not knowing anything about E. Lynn Harris or his writing, I took my girl's word and went out and purchased all of his books. Sad to say, but I could not be more unenthused. I suffered through this one and the thought of even attempting to read the sequels makes me sick. Objectively, the author writes well and if the whole world of bisexuality and homosexuality amuses you, this may be a good choice. As for me, there are too many other entertaining avenues that I can explore without trying to understand the complicated world of "in the closet". This is a bit too much for me. I find it a little difficult to imagine my Black Kings as anything less than pillars of strength.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: EXCELLENT BOOK Review: I was very surprised how I was not able to put this book down. It gets your attention from the very beginning. While I was shocked at what I was reading at times, I could not stop turning the pages. I love the characters and the realness of the situations because fiction does reflect reality sometimes. E Lynn Harris has the ability to write excellent fiction and keep the reader enthralled.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The Best Review: This book gave a insight to the problems that gay and bisexual men and women face. One the outside, life seems so happy, when really on the inside (some) are dying. This book first introduced us to Raymond. A christian well educated southern boy.... that comes to realize that he has an attraction to men! The thought of another man never entered his head until that day in his apartment. (not telling anymore of the story). If you are new to E Lynn Harris' work, please start here. You won't be disappointed.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Great Novel for New Kids on the Block Review: I loved reading it!! The characters were very well developped. Especially when Raymond spoke of Kelvin. I first read this book when I was a freshman in high school. It helped me to open up and out about myself. I realized that I was not diseased with something and that I could turn to friends and family in my time of need. Raymond's mother was just adorable and Quin was the catch that was an exception to the rules about staying fatihful. Especially when it involved HIS marriage. E. Lynn Harris is gifted and I believe that he will become one of the few great and timeless Black Authors of this genre.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Personal... Review: I was thinking the same thing Smyrna was thinking--how does one person change your whole sexuality? Mr. Harris made it seem like dude was straight as a ruler and one man came along and flipped him right around--I don't get it. I felt like the whole situation was like a kid with his favorite toy--he loved his toy to death till he found a better one. But who knows? Maybe that's the way it is. I can't argue with his logic because I've never been in that position so........ Anyway, the story started off really slow and it didn't get good until Basil came along (which was half way into the book) but I don't start a story unless I'm going to finish it. From halfway to the end, the book was interesting and dramatic...but had I not read Mr. Harris' other novels, I would've never bought another. I'm glad I started backwards. Basil is still my favorite character. I gave this book 3 stars for colorful characters, believable dialogue and I just had to commend Mr. Harris for telling such a deeply personal story. I have heard so many people say "I would write a novel but I don't feel it's right to talk about ----". He told his story and I know he put a lot of people's business out there..no names included ofcourse but it takes a bold person to tell this story, and an even more respectable person to make sure the main person put on front street is himself!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: HURRY, READ THIS BOOK!!! Review: This book, as is all of his, is very well written and will do more than entertain you. I believe you will look at men and women in relationships differently. I strongly reccoment this book if you love fiction...and are like most of us, trying to see eye to eye in love and life in our romantic relationships...
