Summary: Praises for Just As I Am; It was an eye-opener!
Review: Just As I Am was a book that both my sister and I enjoyed. We as young, educated black women of today, learned from this book on male homosexuality, a great deal. First of all, we felt for the main character Raymond, who really asked himself "why am I like this?". With exploration of this question as well as the heartfelt, strong bonds of true friendship, readers can allow themselves to open their eyes to black male homosexuality and what it can do to the person themselves and others around them. E.Lynn Harris does a great job at explaining this in his book.. He says it so well. He is saying accept people just as they are and now my sister and I will do just that! Great Job and Thank you!

Summary: WONDERFUL - I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN!!
Review: This book really opened my eyes. I guess I was more homophobic than I realized. This was the first of Mr. Harris' novels that I read. I just order Invisible Life and I can't wait to read the others. Brave to this author for being open and honest about what really goes on.

Summary: Understanding
Review: After reading this book it gave me a totally different outlook on the gay lifestyle. It helped me to realize that we all go through life thinking that either our own race matters, being straight, or just nothing else in life matters, it's all about self and going for yours. It helps those of us who don't understand the true emotions gay people have and go through in life feeling the way that they do. Trapped for trying to be the way society expects them to be for fear of what people may think, and then wanting to feel the true love everyone experiences, but in a different way; and feeling that they may be condemned or even life threatened because of that. I truly recommend this book for any and everyone in this society who feels as though they don't understand...like me. Now I do

Summary: Excellent book, all the characters were great
Review: Just as I am was the best book I have read in a while. The book bought out many issues that people face in life on the reg. It showed how hard it could be in life finding out who you are regardless of your sexual preferences. I myself enjoyed the characters because each one had a different view of life. Kyle was my favorite, because he lived life to the fullest even when he was on his way out. He didn't try to hide how he felt, was very down to earth, and didn't care what anybody else thought. I give E. Lynn 3 thumbs up, keep them coming baby

Summary: Excellent****Two thumbs up
Review: This book is a sequal to Invisible life. It is just as intrigueing as the first it shows both sides of the bi-sexual life. It is a sad thing to know that AIDS are more common in Gay and Bi-sexual men and this book walks you through this kind of stuff. And even Though I am 15 I was so intrigued by this book that I finished It in two days and I understood every bit of it

Summary: he depicts the great beauty of a homosexual relationship.
Review: this book is one of the best contempary romances i have ever read and i read 2-3 books a day. i couldn't put this book down. even though i am not gay or bi-sexual the text was so well written that you had to sympathize with Raymond, as he goes through the ups and downs of trying to find somebody to love him for him. he finds out the difference between lust and love with his relationship with Basil and obtains a valuable friendship with Jared. you cry with empathy when a gay friend of theirs, Kyle, dies and you weep for joy when he finds an old frat brother truly worthy of his love

Summary: Controversial and enlightening novel about choices.
Review: This is a story of a young black man and the problems he must overcome to live his life as he chooses. Although, this is a story about chosing between a heterosexual and a homosexual lifestyle, it is an example of how we struggle within ourselves when we are living up to others standards. It shows us that until we make ourselves happy we are living a life of deception and we are deceiving the people we care about the most. The controversial nature of this book may make some think twice about reading it. Once we begin the journey into the pages of this enlightening novel it makes us reevaluate the decisions we have made in all aspects of our lives. The characters in the novel are portrayals of some one important in our live.

Summary: No other book is as important to me than this one.
Review: I have just become aqauinted with Harris already he has become my favorite author! Harris' characters are real and visible to college students as well as young adults. Being a college student, I could relate toRaymond and Nicole and many of the other characters. Both Just As I Am and Invisible Life were supreme. I am eagerly anticipating future material from Harris. He is truely a great novelist

Summary: Did I Read the Same Book as Everyone Else?
Review: I'm beginning to think I must have read a different book than everyone else. I'm not sure how anyone could give this book any kind of rave reviews. I've read some wretched literary endeavors in my time and this certainly ranks up there with the worst. Reading it was like trudging up a mountain through hundreds of feet of snow. By Chapter 4 I was ready to weep with boredom. The dialogue is hideously written. Honestly, my 6 year old could come up with more imaginative conversations than E. Lynn Harris. My money could certainly have been spent better elsewhere.

Summary: The Good, the Bad, and the Beautiful
Review: Probably being the biggest fan of E. Lynn Harris, I have to say that this is nothing less then excellent. Harris is an awesome writer and i look up to him more then he will ever know. His books are the kind of books that make you day go alot easier. It is like the pringles jingle " once you pop, you can't stop". I mean once you start rading his books you cannot stop he has encouraged me beyond belief through his book and "Just as I am" is even better, the stories of Kyle, Raymond, Jared and everyone else is just to good to be true. I mean where does he come up with this, where ever u find keep looking and much more success man. Your number one fan
