Summary: Finally, someone who really gets it
Review: I have read just about everything there is on the subject pro and con. After years of seeing both sides, from the inside out, Dr. Satinover is the first author that really knows what he's talking about. He pulls no punches, speaks from experience, is very familiar with the literature--and with all the stuff slung by both sides out of ignorance or political expediency. If you're an outsider looking in, read this book for a balanced, authoritative, serious overview. If you're an insider and ever wondered if it's possible to get out--read this book and understand how, why it's hard, and why you've been told and are telling yourself it's not.

Summary: A smug, self-righteous tome
Review: that focuses on male homosexuality, especially the sexual acts, with a distinctly prurient eye. Thank goodness I'm a lesbian, because Mr. Satinover's research is very quiet in that area. He also ignores the emotional and friendship ties that are involved in same-sex relationships, as if sex is the only reason to be gay. I wonder what a book as well documented on "straight" sins such as date rape, adultery, and unwanted pregnancy would look like? If I gay person wrote a book like that, s/he would be blasted. Mr. Satinover has the cloak of his religion to protect him, after all, he is speaking "the truth in love" in our own interests. Thanks but no thanks.

Summary: Everyone must read this book!
Review: This book would have been a masterpiece had the author not talked about religion and God, which, in my opinion, are nothing more than sophisticated and very popular forms of superstition. I think that may have tragically made a number of people resentful toward the book as a whole. It would have been better if every mention of the word "religion" throughout the book were replaced by the words "common sense". The thing to remember when reading this book is that if you don't agree with everything, do NOT take the entire book to be wrong. There is also another book that is very similar to this one and just as good - *The Myopia Myth: The Truth about Nearsightedness And How to Prevent It*.

Summary: A compassionate and thoughtful treatment of homosexuality.
Review: Satinover does an excellent job of treating an explosive issue with both compassion and accuracy. His scientific arguments leave little room for dissent, and his clearly laid out arguments make for easy reading. For anyone looking for a book that has managed to leave the emotional baggage and blackmail of gay propaganda behind, this is it.

Summary: Homosexuality from a Christina perspective
Review: Jeffrey Satinover does an excellent job in describing in detail the subject of Homosexuality. It is pretty objective in nature although he is taking the position that Homosexuality is not something that we are born with. He backs up his claim however with scientific and psychological facts. He also gives a quite insightful history of this subject. This book also helps those of us who might be having homosexual feelings. Buy it, keep it, and learn the truth.

Summary: Sexuality not an issue of politics nor religion!
Review: Oh, to behold the barely contained glee in the previous reviews, by those who finally have found thoughts from someone as ignorant as themselves to cling to. How many of those same readers even know a gay person? They might sing a far more tolerant tune if they'd bother to open their minds to the real fact that other people's sexual preference should be nobody else's business. It's an issue of biology; not of politics, and certainly not of religion. The whole thing reminds of the not-too-distant past when lefties had their left hands tied behind their backs to force them into the "normal" way of writing. When will we learn?

Summary: A thorough and scholarly analysis of homosexuality.
Review: This book could not be more thorough. It examines homosexuality from psychological, scientific, and religious perspectives, and includes an in-depth analysis of the research claiming that homosexuality is innate or genetic, as well as scientific data documenting homosexual change. Also included is an outstanding narrative describing how all the elements of genes, environment, and other influences can lead to the development of homosexual orientation. Though this book can be appreciated from a strictly scientific point of view, Dr. Satinover also bravely yet compassionately puts into words that which so many Christian and other religious people believe about homosexuality: If they want to, homosexuals CAN change.

Summary: Should be Zero Stars
Review: Quackery of the highest order. Not one of the good "Dr's" "scientific" arguments has ever been peer reviewed. Satinover is scientific like creationism is scientific -- NOT. Pseudoscience of the worst sort. Pure unadelterated garbage for the gullible Xtian fundamentalist.

Summary: A must-read for anyone concerned or interested in the issue
Review: Clear, courageous, and compassionate, with a message for everyone. To Christians: be compassionate and do not condemn *people*, while holding on to biblical truth. To recovering homosexuals: do not despair---there's hope. To activists and the media: do not distort scientific findings for political purposes--show integrity! This book has profoundly enlightened me (as a Christian) and cleared my confusion and misunderstanding of the issues. But you don't have to be religious to appreciate the messages of this book---its effectiveness speaks for itself.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Thorough and incisive
Review: Dr. Satinover has presented his case very clearly, and also adheres to his teachings. Sometimes he should emphasize his point even more, but that's just a matter of opinion. Diagrams are slightly missed. The observations about Judaism and homosexuality are correct. However, the author's interweaving of Talmudic and Christian sources is a bit unneccessary, and some people might not like it. The concluding chapter on paganism is probably one of the finer critiques of modernity and postmodern philosophy.
