Summary: Remarkable
Review: I've loved all the books I recently purchased, and each and every one is COMPLETELY different. The endless tome I AM CHARLOTTE SIMMONS was the first, and even with its length I was captivated. Then I read Jackson McCrae's THE CHILDREN'S CORNER with delight, disgust, fear, hope, and laughter. Finally, I came to rest with SELLEVISION. This novel is a delight! Each and every character is well crafted. I still can't find one I like over another. Readers get a look at each of their personal lives, as well as their on-air ones. All of which are screwed up to various degrees! Hilariously so!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Raunchy, Wicked Fun
Review: Damn, this book is nasty! Author Augustin Burroughs holds NOTHING back in his gleeful lampooning - no - HARPOONING - of the advertising business, a profession he spent many years in. The story is about several folks who work for a television shopping channel. Some are jerks and some are decent. Many twists of fate occur and mayhem ensues. To see where the chips ultimately fall, you will have to read this book. I absolutely could not put this book down and read almost all of it in one sitting.

I also recommend Burrough's sobering yet humorous memoir, Dry

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: I'm sold
Review: Augusten Burroughs is a true talent. The plots within this story are so clever and so well-constructed. Read this book! And when you're finished, read "Running With Scissors". I'm awaiting his future books with great anticipation! The dialogue is funny, the plot is funny, and the inside look at home shopping networks is a true riot.

The ending is just as good as the beginning and it makes you want to read more and more from Augusten Burroughs. This is my first novel by this author and I look forward to reading the rest of his novels after this one.

Also recommend: Running With Scissors, Children's Corner by McCrae

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Burroughs' Best
Review: Although Augusten Burroughs can generally do no wrong, he can be somewhat repetitive (see Dry, Running With Scissors, Magic Fingers, etc.). Perhaps because Sellevision is entirely fictitious, this book is without a doubt his best. If you even remotely liked his other work, I suspect you will love Sellevision. The only thing wrong with it is that it's too short!
