Summary: The Perfect Summer Camp
Review: A sarcastic, breezy, rabid read. Sort of like strolling down the avenue on a perfect afternoon. With your zipper down. The chatty, unaffected style of writing beautifully counterpoints his comedically ruthless observation of American culture in the manner of Robert Altman's Nashville. I can't wait to see where Mr. Burroughs will turn his societally-dilated pupil's next.

Summary: Great light read!!!
Review: This was a fun read that really spoofed the kind of media driven, superficial socitey we're surrounded in. Great characters....I got the impression that the author really knows what it's like to work in New York City. I enjoyed it a lot because I've been in advertising in New York for several years and could really identify with the character types and situations he writes of. Very funny and savy. The kind of book you can take with you on a plane and read cover to cover for a light, entertaining, quick read.

Summary: One hysterical book
Review: I was caught completely by surprise with this one -Sellevision by Augusten Burroughs is one of the funniest, most original novels to come around in a long time. I picked it up and could not stop reading -and laughing out loud- until I finished it.

Summary: An amazing read...
Review: A GREAT READ! The other reader reviews have spoken enough of the plot and the crazy cast of characters such as the immoral Jesus freak, the unloved, the envious and the jobless homosexual TV anchorman. So rather than rehash, let me just say this;

This book reads like a Bret Easton Ellis novel without the violence. If you are into ironic satire, this is your book!

Summary: The Funniest Story Ever Told!!!!!
Review: What a funny, twisted, original and sick little book. I adored it. Page by page, it is hysterical. I mean H-Y-S-T-E-R-I-C-A-L. Burroughs ( any relation to William?) has crafted a novel that actually makes the redeye from New York to L.A a joy ride. A must-read for it's relentless guffaw factor.

Summary: John Waters here is your next movie.
Review: I've never smirked so much on my train commute. It was definitely a challenge not to laugh out loud. The quirky characters are just begging to be let loose in a John Waters film. If you want a quick, campy read to lighten up with, this book is irresistible.

Summary: Very funny first novel
Review: Bought it because I like Bret Easton Ellis and he reviewed it on the back cover. What a great book. What shallow, vain, and vile characters! I have no doubt QVC, Home Shopping Network and the others are peopled with staff members just like in this book.

Summary: the antidote for television
Review: ...is television satire. the omniprsense of home shopping networks, their trashy hypnotic fascination, the ability to shop at 4 am for panty hose and hummel fifures -- it all is marvelous fodder for sharp wit and hilarious characters. it's not hard to imagine that this whole premise might be hideously accurate -- and that is what comepelled and charmed this reader. what a fresh, fluint voice has emerged from the tedium. Bravo!

Summary: HILARIOUS
Review: I haven't laughed out loud so much since I read FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS. Burroughs captures the lunacy of a cumsumer culture with the adroitness of a much more seasoned author. His vantage point is one of unhampered voyeurist....it's like Survivor for QVC, Even if you've never watched the ubiquitous home shopping networks and infomercials that prowl the cable system, you will be uncontrollably amused by his story. I read it in two sittings and alarmed people around me on the subway with raucous outbursts of laughter. do not eat or drink while reading this book -- you don't wait to spray coffee over your copy of what may be , to date, the purely and unapoligetically funniest book of the new millenium....

Summary: Celestial Trash
Review: Brutally funny from the get-go, Augustin Burroughs has assembled a trashy cast of lower echolon "V-tail" personalitys that can stand with Gore Vidal's, Tom Wolfe's and the late Terry Southern's lowest creations. Buy the book, by all means the Moisture Whick Control Panties touted on the show. Here's everything you know -- and don't -- about the dank regions of cable TV. One can only hope to see Burrough's people and clever interwolven plot on the silver screen.
