Summary: Hysterical! Wonderful piece of literary witt .....
Review: "Openly Bob", is one of the better reads of comedic relief on the normal day hum drums which all of us live (gay or straight). Bob's witt is subtley placed and comes up on you unexpectedly as you read through the the chapters. It's almost an intellectual type humor, in that you have to pay attention to the events in order to catch the punch line(s). I enjoyed Bob's way of taking ordinary events of life, and giving them a sharp comedic twist. The chapter on couples counseling, his father's funeral, and several other chapters were especially delightful. It is a must for those who like humanity and intelligence behind their choice of comedy. It will keep you in stiches .........

Summary: Disappointing
Review: Bob is a more talented stand-up comic than he is a writer (unfortunately, being one doesn't automatically make you the other). The only humor lies in forced one-liners linked together by an over-edited, uncompelling narrative -- the author is obviously writing for the stage, not the page. Pass it up, you won't miss a thing.

Summary: The most irrationally funny book I've ever read.
Review: Bob Smith had written a quick witted book about everyday life. He can find humor in the most mundane or painfully ackward situations. While his writing style suggests that he is well educated and very well versed, he still maintains a down-home appeal. He seems to be the type you would really like to take out to eat, although you would go hungry because you would never stop laughing. I would suggest that everyone not only read it but re-read it!

Summary: Very Entertaining
Review: Bob Smith is a very witty author who uses his somewhat sarcastic humor to tell us about his life as a gay comedian. This book was very funny and kept my interest very easily. He puts himself on the line, and made me feel like I was listening to a friend tell a story. VERY WORTHWHILE book to read.

Summary: We live real lives & this shows us the funny side to life
Review: Bob Smith's book will touch you in that it clearly shows us the funny side of our life, whether straight or gay. His humorous topics are ones that any couple can relate to. His touching sense of humour and well written essays will get you to laugh out loud all by yourself. The final line of his book really DOES say it all.

Summary: Warm, Witty, Wise and Wonderful. READ IT!!
Review: Browsing for books has never been so satisfying. Tear jerkers and one liners are jam packed into this quippy book of essays. It's sidesplitting laughs from start to finish. Openly Bob is terrifically hilarious and honestly open. Splurge for it, even if you're broke.

Summary: Being Gay with a smile !
Review: Buying this book in Munich just because of the subtitle "You'll laugh out loud" was a good thing to do. I really had a good time reading this book and finding out the good and funny things about being gay, as well as the fact that it's a life with problems, just as any other relationship. Being gay in the Netherlands is not bad. I can say I'm accepted and that must be one of the reasons for me to have a great time. Reading about a guy in the States (Bob) doing just the same was a good thing to do

Summary: Very funny book; definitely a book to lend
Review: Excellent book! It is being lent to a straight friend who I think will enjoy it. I highly recommend it.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An honest and "open" account of being gay (w/ a partner)
Review: How refreshing to read something written about sharing a life with another man and all the funny situations this brings up. Not just because they are both men, but because living together can be "funny" in any situation. *One of my top 10 for 98"!!!*
