Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An excellent book on writing screenplays
Review: I had the good luck to study scriptwriting with Wells Root, way back in 1974. He was an excellent teacher, and a master of his craft. (He retired from Hollywood in 1966, after writing such scripts as "Magnificent Obsession," and took up teaching at U.C.L.A.)

This book summarizes his teaching very well. If you are thinking about writing screenplays, you owe this book to yourself. He was a humane and intelligent man, and a very good writer. I was sorry to learn that he passed on in 1993. (And I believe he would have insisted that I change the words "passed on" to "died," unless I were trying to create a character who was fond of euphemism!) :-)

Highly recommended!!
