Summary: Rock, Paper, Scissors
Review: Director Michael Bay's end of the world disaster film, 1998's Armageddon is a very well made piece of typical summer confection. It has action, solid visual effects and a great cast, willing to just go with the material, like the viewers, having fun the whole time. The film's many critics should read this companion and then they might not be as harsh about the movie.

Author Mark Cotta Vaz, who also takes readers behind the camera of the first two Spider Man films, does another through job here. His text takes you from pre-production, filming, post production, and peppers it with comments from both cast/crew about the project The 176 page book is written in an easy going fun style just as the film itself. His examination of Armageddon is neither written over the head, or dumbed down, for the reader. There are dozens of color photos, sketches and effects shot breakdowns. A highlight of the book for me was reading comments from the film's NASA consultants-really cool stuff. Director Michael Bay writes the book's introduction.

For film buffs this is a must read. Armageddon is not a perfect film. For what it is, it works, and is better than some think it is. Recommended. **** and a half stars

Summary: Visions of ARMAGEDDON - An Essential book for Sci-Fi Fans
Review: Discover the world inside the greatest blockbuster movie of this summer! If you like the movie you MUST own it. When I bought this book, I never thought the importance of this release. This contains, in a very complete way, all the Armageddon proyect with very interesting notes about it(with interviews of all the cast, included Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck and Liv Tyler). Specially pay attention in all the production design(big and detailed pictures) as behind the scenes, storybooards, CGI sequences, etc..Get into the Armageddon world. Time is running up! :)

Summary: A great book for one of cinema's great movies
Review: When I first saw Visions of Armageddon on sale at the bookstore, I often found myself looking at it more and more. So, finally, I bought it.

This has to be a great book on the 1998 blockbuster film. It contains information on all subjects from the film's genesis to final production. Hundreds of lavish photographs and drawing make it even better. It includes interviews with the cast and crew.

However, for people looking for a good book to read, ignore this. The information skips back and forth. One moment they are telling you about how the film began. Then they are telling you about how the special effects were made. Then they are telling about the genesis and so forth. But the lack of definite timeline does not at all hurt the story of the most overcritized film of all time. As Michael Bay said "There is nothing wrong with entertaining people."
