Rating: Summary: A Standing Ovation Review: At My Wit's End is a wonderful compilation of the author's witty thoughts, angst and musings. Presented with the flow of a stand up comedy routine, AMWE streamed by much too fast! Most of the comments are accessible to everyone--this is not just comedy for techies or hipsters--this comedic narration will appeal to all age levels. Clean, dry humor presented to you by a guy whose website is called Laundry Day. Go figure. I truly enjoyed wiling away an afternoon with this book. It's fresh and funny and keeps the reader engaged until the final flyleaf is turned. When I finish chortling, I'll probably have to share it with my kids.

Rating: Summary: Very Refreshing and Entertaining Review: I read At My Wit's End (referred by a friend) and thought it was extremely entertaining and clever. It's not going to win a Nobel Prize or be in Oprah's Book Club, but who cares! The book did succeed in making me laugh (and still does). It's hard to explain At My Wit's End, but I'll try. Right from the start I realized this was going to be a different kind of book. Actually, the laughs started before the book even officially began. There's a very funny "WARNING" before the Introduction (don't pass it up). And the books unpredictable style doesn't stop until the very last page (note: don't be fooled by "The End".) The book has categories and structure, but I still didn't know what to expect from page to page. All I did know was "it's going to make me think or it's going to make me laugh." The book is basically hundreds of humorous thoughts and observations, with a few sections like What Not to Say on a First Date, Dog Thoughts, and some stories (a hilarious one about Cooties and another about a kid who befriends a Pinata) thrown in for pacing. A lot of the quotes are funny twists on common sayings, which I could totally see people using as quick quips in conversation. Kind of a reference book for wise cracks. (Personally, I'm trying to memorize some of them.) By the way, don't let the 300 page length fool you, it's a very quick read. The author only places a one or two-lined witticism on each page. I guess because they're easier to read when spaced out. Plus, it gives you time to think. And, honestly, I had to think about a few of them. (Which is refreshing. The author doesn't spoon feed you the jokes or insult your intelligence.) The "Dog Thoughts" section was particulary amusing, but maybe because I'm a huge dog lover. The Introduction says the book was written over a three day weekend. I find it hard to believe, considering the amount of thought and effort put into each page. But if it is true, then I'd love to see what this guy could do if he had more time. To sum up; It's obvious the author has a very dry sense of humor, but I highly recommend At My wit's End no matter what your preference of comedy is. You'll find something you love in this book. I leave it on my desk at work, because anyone who comes by can flip to any page and get a quick laugh. Although they usually end up borrowing it. That's it! Enjoy.
