Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: an excellent addition Review: As always, another good book and well worth the buy. While I am a Clan Player at heart, this is an excellent book. Loaded with updates and useful roleplaying information. A must for all BT fans, AFFS or not.

Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: FASA suddenly hates the FedCom. Review: For those long time FedCom units out there, you will hate this book. Essentially a book on FedCom incompetence, this field manual dissolves all of the strengths of the FedSuns and turns it into a mindless zombie state with no sence of direction. Things and situations are far too drastic, and the FedSuns/Lyran civil war is just a cheap way to make new conflict now that the Clans have been put into place by Ops: Bulldog and Serpent. The book makes no political sense, and it only exists to further the plot and sales of the BattleTech game. Did I mention most of the art is awful? Not all, but most. The only redeaming aspect is the new battle suit, and the cover by Doug Chaffee.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: How the Mighty Have Fallen Review: I always loved the Federated Suns, which is probably an effort of FASA's; after all, the Davions were the heroes of the early game, fighting the "evil empire" of the Draconis Combine. They still are, or at least Victor Steiner-Davion is the hero of the game (see Shattered Sphere). Now, we see the imminent collapse of the Federated Commonwealth due to the intrigues of Katherine Steiner-Davion, and one wonders how it got so bad. I truly enjoyed this book. It's like all the other Field Manuals, but coming towards the end of the pack, they've had more time to refine their format. It comes as a surprise that there are actually very few types of units in the Federated Suns, as compared to the other successor states; the March Militias form close to half the 'Mech strength of the AFFS. It also gives a decent overview of the military history of the FS, but I'd give my eyeteeth for a reprint of the House books. The additional rules are good, too. I like the rotary autocannon and the targeting computer. The new OmniMech, the Templar, is the best Mech design I've seen in years. It's nice to know that the FSN doesn't rely just on the Fox-class corvettes, and that they're actually building a rather decent fleet. I highly recommend this book to people who play Battletech, or just collect it.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Davion Rebirth Review: I have to say, that I was surprised how many listed Davion units are loyal to Katherine Steiner-Davion. Still, loyalties change all the time in this universe. Despite that, I am sure the book will put at ease those B-Tech fans who think the AFFC/AFFS is no longer as potent as it was during the Succession Wars. Although the Federated Suns is not as up to date as other Inner Sphere powers, certainly they can hold their own in superior organization and tactics. The real question is, even with the resurgence of the Star League and detente with the Draconis Combine, can the Federated Suns, and the Federated Commonwealth survive the sundering of Civil War? This Field Manual will reveal the strengths and weaknesses of the Federated Suns, and with the Lyran manual, "stack the forces" together to let readers understand the unsettling future ahead. A must-read.

Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Civil War anyone ? Review: Opening this book I was happy to see just how much information was given on each unit(numbers, loyalty, experiance) not to mention the listing of new mechs, ships, and weapons. I was however disappointed that there wasn't much information on the impending civil war brewing between the Federated Suns and the Lyran Alliance, despite the fact that both are being run by Katherine Steiner-Davion. The nice thing about the situation is its easy to tell what side you support by how you pronounce her name. Katrina for the pro-Lyrans. Katherine for the pro-Davions.
