Summary: Poorly Written Book
Review: Although I very much like the subject matter of the book and was interested in learning more, I thought the book was poorly written. When the author states that she didn't know anything about writing a book, she wasn't kidding. When you read some of the stories, you kept thinking they couldn't possibly be finished and that you must have missed something. I was expecting something with a little more substance than the story of a fan who sees a helicopter after a concert and decided that it must be Barry Manilow in the helicopter. (You never know whether it is or it isn't.) I am very much a fan of Barry Manilow's music and enjoyed reading his autobiography, "Sweet Life," but I did not like this book at all.

Summary: Not a Good Cross-Section of Fans
Review: Although this book does explore some fans' intimate moments, it seems to only favor a certain "type" of Manilow fan -- the ones with all the time and money in the world to go chasing Barry across the country every time he's on tour! For those of us with a life who are experts at his music, who consider him a central inspiration in our lives, but can't go to every appearance, this book is not a description. Best described as Fan Non-Fiction.

Summary: The whole world sings-a simple review
Review: This book touched me. It was refreshing in the way it was written, fans speaking to fans about the Manilow magic. Funny, touching, personal. I was pleased that what needed to be said was said. Without overdoing it, without underplaying it. This girl did a wonderful job and should go on to write more. I really do recomend this book.

Summary: You Can Give In ...You Can Give Out..But You Don't Give Up!
Review: Those words helped me through a devestaing time in my life and they were spoken by Barry Manilow!

I have been a fan of Barry Manilow's for over 25 years and when I met Mandy Strunk over 2 years ago and learned of her putting this book together I admit I was sceptical at first because so often fans of Barry's are protrayed as menopausal females with no fulfilling lives of their own! This is far from the truth and this book proves it!

I am a critical care nurse and stress is very much a part of my everyday life! Barry and his music helps me to release that stress and has also helped me through some very difficult times in my life as I mentioned...(but you'll have to buy the book to read about them)!

Mandy has protrayed Manilow fans as loving and caring people from all walks of live who happen to share a common interest...Good music and Barry Manilow!
