Summary: Captures the Douglas Adams era of Doctor Who wonderfully
Review: Up to this point, the only person who has really been able to capture the feeling and the sense of fun of Season Seventeen was Gareth Roberts in his three Doctor Who Missing Adventures "The Romance of Crime", "The English Way of Death" and "The Well Mannered War". Since the Doctor Who series of original novels has made the leap from Virgin to BBC Books, no one has really successfully captured either the Fourth Doctor's character or the feeling of a Fourth Doctor story. That has all changed. "Festival of Death" by Jonathan Morris is fantastic. He takes an interesting approach to the writing where the Doctor and Romana arrive at the scene of a disaster which they soon discover they're being revered as heroes. But to much their dismay, they also find out the Doctor was apparently killed in the process. Last thing first, the Doctor and Romana must find out how this all happened. This story has all the adventure, fun and humour of a Douglas Adams story. Jonathan Morris also does an excellent job getting Tom Baker's Doctor spot on. The dialogue is also excellent in this story with an assortment of funny characters you would expect in a story of that era and an over the top villian as well. This book is a must have for people who are fans of the Fourth Doctor.
