Rating: Summary: Inspirational, well worth the money! Review: I am often reticent about reading books of the "Self-Help" variety. Thankfully, on recommendation I decided to read this one, which I would say is a must have for anyone lacking focus and looking to maximise their potential and achieve their ambitions. If the author ever returns to the UK then I will definitely consider attending his seminars.

Rating: Summary: All things considering, a pretty good book! Review: I have no problem giving the book high marks. Mr. Clark hasn't written a masterpiece here, but I thoroughly enjoyed the content and the language used. Most of the readers who have commented have been pretty positive, and in that respect, I think it is likely because the have grasped the true nature of the book and the author's intent hasn't been lost on insignificant details like the editing. For sure, you will notice very quickly that there are a considerable number of grammatical and spelling errors, but I don't feel that they detract from the message of the book: to get past all of the superficial fluff, and get to the heart of what really matters in life. One has to wonder how a book could get published without being edited; is that possible? I don't know if the author and publisher conspired to leave errors in or not, but after reading the last review that says this book is a waste of money, I went ahead and bought it anyway. It made me stop and think about how I look at things. Does it really mater if the book is edited perfect? I don't much care and find it sort of refreshing.
Rating: Summary: I've read it and I like it! Review: I have read a lot of self-help books on success over the years and this is one is a keeper. You definitely want to add to your shelf and reference it often. The material is both timeless and fresh and the author writes with a very unique style that made the material easy to understand.I must say that I am also very impressed with the author's attitude and drive. The accomplishments he has made are inspiring and the stories he shares about his life really touched home for me. The author may take some flack for putting his beliefs out in the open like he does in this book and for taking a no-excuse position with personal responsibility, but the people that will grumble will be those who will never step up to the plate and take a swing. Take it from someone who has read the book from cover-to-cover and can honestly and objectively comment on the content: it is an excellent read full of very insightful information. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: I wholeheartedly recommend this book! Review: I love the quote by Sir Francis Bacon used by the author: "Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested." I tasted this book and would like more! I am now on my second read through the book and I keep finding wonderful morsels of advice that feed my soul.
As a Christian, I find the author's unabashed reverence towards Jesus Christ as his personal savior to be one of the true highlights of the book; it is obvious as you read through the pages of this manuscript how much the author loves Jesus and people too. I really enjoyed reading about the "trichotomous" view of man. That part was fantastic. I had never quite seen it presented that way before.
I should say that I greatly admire the fact that the author has overcome so many obstacles in his life-starting at what appears to be a very young age-to become not only a published author, but to have also been able to reach levels of performance that I long for myself; I am envious and thirsty to understand just "how" he did it. Fortunately, this book answers many of the questions I have.
I've read many books by such authors as Napoleon Hill, Zig Ziggler, Tony Robbins, and others. All tend to share similar points but presented through their own filter. Life is awesome that way and each new author I read teaches me things because of how they personally present the material they are sharing. Even though I do not know the author, I feel like I do simply because he seems so personable; while reading the book it is easy to "hear" him as if he is talking directly to me.
The exercises in the book made me stop and think. You know, I had been told a number of times that I needed to make a list of things I wanted to do in life, but before now I had not done it. After reading the book, I was motivated to. I think, at least in part, I thought to myself, "Here is this young guy who has done so much with his life. Why can't I do it too?" And you know, I think that is what is so neat about this book: it wasn't over my head and the material actually got me to do something! Reading is the easy part; getting up-as the author puts it-"[...]" and doing something is what separates those who are successful from those who are not. Action is a major part of success.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book!
Rating: Summary: Enjoyed it! Review: I purchased this book because I met the author at a conference. He was warm, funny, inviting and truly wonderful to listen to. The book reinforced a lot of the material he covers in person. His accomplishments in life--despite having started out with nothing--really motivated me to want to do more with my own. The cool thing is that he tells you up-front that he is just an average person who still has a lot to learn. Sounds a lot like me! If you are tired of being fed a lot of bull, then by all means buy this book. There's a lot of great information inside that, if you apply it, will help you get where you want to go. If you are looking for perfection, you might want to go somewhere else.
Rating: Summary: Pull no punches Review: If your looking to wallow in your own self pity this ones not for you. However this book does give you a step by step no nonsense approach to achieving your dreams. As the authour said "life is a gift not to be squadered" - I for one will be living by this with the guiding help of this text. An excellent motivating read.
Rating: Summary: IS so good! Review: James L. Clark's book WADING THROUGH THE CRAP is excellent! When I first read the title I laughed out loud and just had to find out what was inside. I was not disappointed. The author uses his well developed wit and intelligence to convey, in plain speak, effective tools to taking immediate control over your life. It is simple but powerful guidebook that is an essential part of anyone's library that is serious about success. In particular, I really liked the chapter on emotions. It is tremendously insightful and filled with all kinds of information about how our feelings work and how states are created. Best of all, the author provides examples and tools of how to manage them to prevent being controlled by them. In my opinion, this book is top notch.
Rating: Summary: Impressive book Review: The author has evidently seen and done some impressive things in his life to date, and his suggestions, not just on self help but on self-regard, are well worth hoisting on board. I don't read self help books, because I don't feel I need them, but tried this one on recommendation. It really does help you to focus on what you need to do to improve yourself! It does exactly what it says on the cover!
Rating: Summary: Just good stuff! Review: Word of mouth is the best form of marketing; that's why I purchased and read this book. A good friend of mine told me about it, and I am pleased that he did. Even more so I am glad that I took his advice and actually read it. If you are a realist and down-to-earth kind of person who is looking for advice that is both practical and motivating, I would encourage you to read this book too. I apologize if my review is not as verbose as some of the others posted here, but I am a pretty normal guy with an average education. That is what made this book fun to read. The author isn't fancy and arrogant. The material isn't stuffy and pretentious. Its just good stuff!
