Summary: Dies on the vine
Review: Black starts out with an insightful humor into relationships with men however about two-thirds into the book she suddenly goes beyond humor and into a realm that was uncalled for. In the last, few chapters she shows a rather sick side to her humor. I would not recommend this book to anyone unless I tore out the last few chapters first.

Summary: Well written, funny, informative, greatly illustrated
Review: I bought this book as a gag gift for a friend of mine who is a Dr. Gray disciple. My friend will have to wait for me to get her another copy because I just can't put this book down!

There's so much humor in this book that it's hard to believe the author isn't a national comedienne. Every single page is full of the best one-liners I have ever seen written and compiled in a single source. It's not just roll on the floor laughter but also highly entertaining. There must be 50 illustrations throughout the book to help the reader understand the point being made in the male/female relationship.

It's an amazingly clever piece of writing. I don't know why the national media hasn't picked up on it because this is as good as anything written by nationally known humorists.

Summary: Good value for the money
Review: I have a new favorite author! This is one of the funniest books I have ever read! I have already read it four times because it's so funny. Every single thing Dr. Gray <yuck> has ever written is made fun of in this book and that's what makes it so hilarious. I can actually compare this book to any one of John Gray's books and see right down the line where this book makes fun of what he says. It's absolutely brilliant and I can't wait to give it as a gift to many of my other friends who also don't like John Gray. You won't be disappointed if you buy this book!

Summary: So Katherine....are you married?
Review: I received this book as a gift. I'm now going to return the favor and give it to friends and family as well. Ms Black offers a fresh type of humor only a rather eccentric woman could offer. I've read a few parodies before, but never with the wit, sarcasm and general outlook that this author offers. I can't think of a better way to spend $15 on a gift. I highly recommend this to anyone. Just dont make the mistake my friend did to me, buy two. One to keep and one to attempt to chase down after loaning it out. I still haven't gotten mine back. So Katherine, if you ever read this, what about selling this book in two packs. It would help the guys like me who may never see their one book again. Oh, and please dont be a one-book-wonder. I'm hooked. I want more.

Summary: Just read the opening
Review: I think the intro says it all for this book. If you just simply read what Amazon has put up for us to examine, you really don't need to read much more.

Black has simply bought into the TV stereotypes and become a jaded fem-nazi in her views of men. Men are much deeper than just being "2 heads", and this is something that John Gray got perfectly.

All this book does is re-inforce the feelings that those who may have been hurt by men in the past. It however is a FAR cry from any kind of decent examination of the sexes.

Summary: Best of the bunch
Review: My husband is a fan of John Gray. I am not. I think Gray is an idiot. Whenever I find a book that makes fun of what Gray says, I buy the book. A couple other people have written books that make fun of Gray but this book from Ms. Black is by far the best of the bunch. It's a true parody. Ms. Black has taken Gray's very words and come up with better explanations about male and female relationships. No wonder men and women have a hard time getting along! Gray thinks it's all the fault of the woman. Ms. Black pokes fun at Gray's theory and offers much more plausible explanations. Now if I can only get my husband to read THIS book!

Summary: Dies on the vine
Review: This book seemed lide it not only explained some situations i have been in during a relationships, but the men that were in the sityation also delt with the situation the same way as is explained in the book. This book is very informative to show you how you are views through the opposite sexed eyes, and what is really accepted attitude with the opposite sex. Throughout this book it continued to refer to future chapters or other works by the author, making it difficult to complete a chapter without filling in the missing information. Overall, I do believe this book does explain the differences between men and women, whether it explains how we can work together is questionable, because it is a one sided book and can only tell one story at a time. I pictured this book as a puzzle with many hard-cut edges.

Summary: Skewering the Self Help Ninnies
Review: Though author Katherine Black aims her outrageously funny "Women May be from Venus, but Men are Really from Uranus" at Dr. John Gray's inane "Venus and Mars" relationship self help series, her target could in fact be the whole of the self help industry. Granted, Black is taking aim at an enormous and very slow moving target, but she possesses the rhetorical equivalent of a howitzer in the way she blasts every aspect of Gray's psycho-babble to smithereens. It is sort of like what would happen if George Carlin took on Dr. Phil in a no holds barred debate.

Black structures her book just like any self help tome you see on the shelves. The chapters are short, lest she test her (daytime television watching) audience's short attention span. There are plenty of meaningless "lists" and the print is nice an large so you can feel like you've accomplished something by reading lots of pages in a short amount of time. The book is also peppered with a generous portion of amusing illustrations by Peter J. Welling. Even if you've never read a self help book before and can't imagine ever reading one, you'll find plenty to laugh at.

Overall, a quick and humorous read that is a perfect and long overdue satire.
