Summary: The Thief of Bagdhad meets Faerun
Review: Calimport explores the "other" rich and mercantile city of Forgotten Realms, and what a ride it is.

Calimport has an extensive history section, a great number of adventure hooks no matter which section you read, and wonderfully detailed layouts of the city itself.

Unfortunately, I did take off a star for the confusing layout in some portions of the work. But, overall, you really can't go wrong with adding Calimport to your Empires of the Shining Sea boxed set. You gain extensive detail, great history, mysterious adventuring hooks, and lose nothing.

Summary: Finally, a self-contained module!!!
Review: If your a DM who wants his/her PC's to really get a feel for the role (not roll) playing aspect of a campaign this is the module for you. Ali-Baba and Alladin look out, here comes the Syl-Pasha!!!

Summary: Not all I expected.
Review: The follow up accesory to "Empires of the Shining Sea," I must admit I was a little dissappointed. The lay-out seemed terribly confusing, particulary the "city at large" sections. The names of sabans (neighborhoods) and the titles of city officals were so unusual my campaign group had no idea what I was talking about. Having fun at first, but eventually losing interest, even when introduced gradually it still proved too much to absorb. After a couple of sessions, they were looking for the next ship to Waterdeep. On the plus side the history presented in EoSS is expanded on showing Calimports rise from -11,000 DR to the present. One advantage, it is very easy to incorporate into an ongoing campaign (Elminster teleported you where?). Just remeber, Calimport is full of schemes and intrigue so it could take time and be a little tricky trying to incorporate players into the thick of things if you just rush it to the next session. But fear not, there is a saban given as a headquaters for your Calimport campaign (think Adventurers Quarter in the City of Splendors boxed set). So, all in all, if your a fan of the Realms, interested in the greatest city of southern Faerun, I suggest you pick up a copy. It may be just what your looking for.
