Rating: Summary: So Who Is This Rumpole Person, Anyway? Review: I remember these being done as wonderful 30 minute plays by the BBC, starring Roy Dotrice as Albert Whitlock, and Alistair Sim as the Stipendary Magistrate Mr Swallow. Apart from a lovely byplay between these two, the humour that laced each case had me laughing so much my ribs were aching!
I immediately sought out the stories themselves, and although they were somewhat shorter, loved each and every volume of those as well. It's been a long, long time since then - over a quarter of a century - and so I was delighted to find these "Misleading Cases" available again in a two volume collected set.
Although some of the laws of England brought to light in these cases are likely to have changed, the wit and humour is something I look forward to renewing my acquaintence with.
