Summary: Top Notch !!
Review: I've been trying to get a reasonable explanation of what consists a power chord for a while now. I've even asked my guitar instructor who is from a very well known contemporary music school in the Boston area, and his reply was "Oh, it has many forms, like this, like this, and like this.". Great, I'm paying this guy $30 an hour to tell me no information !?. I've had four professional guitar instructors so far and they all tout impressive credentials but their knowledge base was all about the same - can't explain even the basic stuff ! So, somewhat out of desparation, I ordered this book fully prepared to be disappointed by equally vague series of explanations. I was surprised to find that this book really explained the concept of power chords and how rock musician's been applying it to their music for decades. I also liked the way the book is oriented towards actual performance using power chords. You can immedietly start using what you've learned from this book at your next gig. Accompanying CD is easy to understand and is to the point. This book is really a gem that has a place in any guitarist's library. It did it for me !. Now all you guitar instructors out there - beware, there are these books that are coming out that's 10x more effective than the lessons you've been giving, and is at half the price of an hour worth of noninstruction that you've been pushing on to your hapless students. You may not be so popular in the future !

Summary: Easy and fun
Review: If a dummy like me can do it, you know it's easy. This book is easy to understand and the CD is fun to play along to. I especially like the way the tracks are all done with and then without the guitar parts so that you can hear how it's supposed to sound and then play along.(Ignore the table of contents, I think it belongs with "First Guitar Lead Licks").
