Rating: Summary: Very Nice Review: Just reading Gina Hyams is soothing in itself. I loved every part and every word. Big Sky meditation is my favorite part, but it's all wonderful, really. I love the mysteries of incense and read almost every book I can on the subject. This and The Book of Incense by Kiyoko Morita are my favorites of all of them. This is a beautiful hardbound book with great color illustrations. It covers so many different perspectives on incense, from recipes for Egyptian Kyphi to a marvelous section of the Japanese incense ceremony and incense games. Anyone who loves incense will love this book.
Rating: Summary: Five Stars Plus Some! Review: This book captures the history and essence of incense, across its many traditions, better than any other I have read. Gina really writes beautifully, but behind the well organized presentation and skilful use of words it is so very evident that a great deal of effort and writing integrity is at the foundation. The photography and print quality is excellent, and I am really happy they chose the hardcover format. This is one I will send to my friends in Japan!
