Fiddle Tunes & Irish Music for Mandolin

Review: So far, I've only learned the first song from the CD - also the first in the book - but already I can see that there are some subtle differences even between the tab and the disc. Toward the end "Pitchfork's Ramble", there are a few embellishments that aren't included in the tab. They weren't hard to sound out, but I seem to remember the introduction mentioning that embellishments were included.

Summary: Good, despite errors
Review: The book has a nice variety of fiddle tunes with notation and introductory material specific to the mandolin. The recording features only a handful of the tunes and, although the guitar and mandolin tracks are panned so that you could mute the mandolin and play along, the samples are so short that you wouldn't really want to do that. I also have been frustrated by several errors in the transcription -- often the tab and sheet music will differ. That said, it's a good set of tunes and a useful, if imperfect, package.
