Summary: Complete intro to the industry, A must have book!!!
Review: David Naggar give you a very straight forward break down of the music industry. IF you are an artist, manager, producer, promoter or anything that has to do with the record business you need to read this book. Even if you think you got it all covered this little handbook might open your eyes to something that you might not have encountered yet. Similar to Kashif's 'Everything you'd better know' Naggar gives a very readable explanation to a lot of issues that plague artists and managers such as royalties and ownership and control rights.

If you are serious about being sucessful in the music business then I suggest you begin by reading this book, you will find that many music books sort of repeat themselves and it's almost like you are reading the same thing over and over but if you do not lose interest each book has something different that can be of a good reference.

Summary: THE FAULTS OF THIS BOOK...EXPLAINED IN PLAIN ENGLISH
Review: Everyone wants to simplify.

It makes sense. People are stressed in their attempts to maximize what little time they do have. Let me save you some more of your precious time.

Don't bother reading this book!

It only gives you a fraction of the information that you will be seeking as someone aspiring to get into the music business. Partial (or in this case overly simplified) inormation in the music business is like partial information in real estate: it's the info you don't have that will make your life hell.

Cough up the extra ten bucks and get Donald Passman's, "All You Need To Know About The Music Business." That's time and money that will be better spent.

Summary: This is an excellent "easy-to-read" resource guide
Review: I love this book because it's 1)not boring 2)easy to read 3)and very resourceful. After reading this you know that you do have a chance in the "business" without getting ripped-off if you follow the guidelines - research and have people working for that are "for you". So If you don't want to get ripped-off you better read this book or else "Show them the money!"
