Review: The Beach Boys' catalog has been mangled and exploited to a nearly unprecedented degree. Even few pop groups' music rewards the persistent listener and collector as does the Beach Boys'. Doe and Tobler do a service to both casual and committed fans; they offer a guide to most of the groups' (legitimate) releases, accompanied by (sometimes amusingly biased) commentary. One of the better entries in this series of cd- sized reference books, and a worthwhile addition to any Beach Boys fan's collection.
