Summary: Confessions Of A Jilted Groupie...
Review: The eagerly anticipated 'Into The Void...with Ace Frehley' has finally been released and after reading I must admit to mixed feelings. It was with a great deal of interest that I read Gordon Gebert's rock and roll themed books, Kiss and Tell and Rock and Roll War Stories, the anecdotes contained within kept me entertained and amused for countless hours. By comparison, 'Into The Void...with Ace Frehley', could be more aptly described as grim and somewhat pathetic. Owing more to similar rock wife/girlfriend books like the scathing 'Dream On' by the late Cyrinda Foxe Tyler(ex-wife of Aerosmith vocalist Steven Tyler), 'Into The Void' comes off as bitter and humorless.
'Into The Void' relates the story of Wendy Moore, a typical California girl with dreams of rock stardom. A self proclaimed 'good girl', apparently her scruples, morals and integrity did not prevent her from getting involved with the legendary Ace Frehley, a wild rocker with a reputation for drug and alcohol abuse. Furthermore, when the author met Frehley in the late nineties he was still married to his first wife and already had another girlfriend on the East coast. Surely this would have alerted a sane person that this was not the best candidate for a serious relationship, instead the author ignored this and allowed Frehley to introduce her to a lifestyle of booze and drug abuse which culminated in a full blown heroin addiction and a stint in rehab.
The fact that the author was an adult when she became involved with Frehley does not prevent her from blaming him for her addictions at every turn. Remember what your parents told you? If everyone jumped off a bridge..The author also admits that her role in Frehley's life was never even defined as a girlfriend but rather as a 'personal assistant' relegated to cleaning Ace's apartment, so it's hard to justify her feelings of jealousy faced with the constant menagerie of different women in Frehley's life. What is even worse is that this supposed former 'friend' of Ace Frehley's admits with alarming frequency throughout the book that she was attempting to use him and KISS to further her career as a rock star/playboy model. Pretty nice huh?
The book is basically story after pathetic story of narcotic overindulgence and infidelity/jealousy, and though some of it is quite funny (in a watching someone fall down a flight of stairs sort of way), it is ultimately disapointing and depressing to see that someone would allow themselves to be degraded in this way. The book reaches its nadir with the good girl/author forced to dance in seedy joints and make fetish porn to permit her to sustain her drug habits.
Interspersed throughout the book are disparaging allegations about the other members' of KISS. In particular, Paul Stanley seems to have borne the brunt of the author's wrath for 'not being friendly with her', maybe it was because he suspected that she was a drug addled user?? The allegations about Paul Stanley are quite ugly and the author admits they really have no proveable or factual substance. Sour Grapes? Could a lawsuit for defamation of character be far behind?
A book like this should be taken as light entertainment and balanced against the fact that it was obviously written by someone searching for her fifteen minutes of fame. Anyone who has suffered in a dysfunctional relationship should take into account how nasty things can get when that relationship ends, bear this in mind as you read and decide what you want to believe.
I am well aware that celebrities all have their faults and shortcomings, nobody's perfect. Probably one of the reasons I enjoyed the funny stories in Kiss and Tell, even though many of the stories in that book were brutal was because author Gordon Gebert never resorted to the outright bitterness of Moore and took some responsibility for the abuse Frehley heaped on him during their relationship. As it stands, 'Into The Void' should be used as a cautionary guide for people looking to use the fame of others' to further themselves and at the very least serve as a lesson that every individual is responsible for their own lives, actions and consequences.

Summary: Uh, if Ace did half this stuff.......
Review: First let me apologize to Gene and Paul for all the times I cursed you out for not touring with Ace. If he did half the stuff this broad wrote in this book you are both saints for putting up with Ace as long as you did.
How very sad to see a guitar legend being shown as a junkie, degenerate. What's even sadder is the skank that wrote it will make lots of money from it. I know, I know I'm guilty for buying it but I had to I'm a huge Kiss fan (73-79)
Anyway I'm not sure if it's all true but there are lots of life lessons to be learned from this book. Number one is be super carefull who you befriend because this prostitute (believe me she is, although she called herself an assistant) ripped Ace a new one in this book.
Did you know Ace was into A$$ play?

Summary: Void this title!
Review: First off, let me say that I rated this book at 2 stars due to the fact that I would never give 1 star to even the most poorly written book because although the book may be bad, it is definitely a difficult undertaking to author a book, so I do hold respect for that task.

As far as this book goes, and mind you, I just finished it 5 minutes ago so its very fresh in my mind, I am truely unimpressed. I knew going into buying this book that it was going to be propaganda written by an ex-girlfriend. That did not bother me, but what did bother me was the lack of information or shall I say interesting information. It is more or less a daily journal or who said what, who did this, and they did that. After 220 pages and 5 hours of my time, I basically learned that the author (Wendy Moore) met Ace Frehley (Kiss) on Valentines day of 1998, desperately wanted her band "Venus Envy" to get noticed so she pulled a Lisa Marie Presley and clung to Ace Frehley for the next 2 years in hopes that he would make good on his promise to make her a star. Courtney Love has more integrity than this lady in my opinion. During the process, she got hooked on cocaine and eventually heroin. She loosely blames AceFrehley for this but she was 27 years old at the time and should hae been in control of her own actions. I'm not sure what the author in question was looking to reveal to the readers other than Ace is a lazy burnout in a once great rock band. That and the fact that Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley wear wigs and did not like her being around them when they were working. Makes perfect sence to me that the 2 professionals in the band would not wish a tag along girlfriend (fan) posing as a cleaning woman around whle they were having band meetings and recordings.

That said author also requests our sympathies when it comes to her heartbreak when Ace gives her the old heave ho. What really made me want to just stop reading all together was when she said that Ace basically dumped her, so she dressed up as him in his KISS costume on halloween and went to the show so he could see her getup. It just proved to me that the author is an opportunist and this book is basically psycho babble to make money off of kiss fans.

She quoted Gene Simmons as saying " as long as it has our faces on it, then the kids will buy it." I beleive this is true and it appears that Wendy Moore and her independent publishing company Pitbull Publishing believes this too. So in the end, I'm sure this title will sell due to its content so it really doesn't matter what I say about it. Just know that this is a very boring read, and its best to save your money for a tell all written by a legitimate inner circle member of the rock band Kiss. When Monique Frehley or his estranged wife Jeanette writes a book, I will read it.When Ace's cleaning woman or gardener, or pizza delivery boy write a tell all, I shall give it a pass.

Summary: KISS the fame-starved groupie Goodbye!!
Review: I just finished this book a few minutes ago. First of all, my props to anyone who dares to write a book and actually get it published. There are plenty of starving writers out there who put their time and energy into getting their work distibuted. Unfortunatly, a lot of the good ones get overlooked and somehow this one got published.

I found this book to be another way for the author Wendy Moore, to use Ace Frehley as a way to "further her career". If you are a KISS fan and would like to learn more about the mysterious world of Ace Frehley, this is not the book to purchase. Anyone into reading up on rock & roll bands, it comes as no surprise that there will be sex, drugs, more drugs, addiction, and rock & roll.

This book is primarily about Wendy Moore. The innocent girl who got mixed up with a rocker almost past his prime. She blames him for her addiction, and constantly contridicts herself within every page. (Let alone will drop her band name any chance she gets.) She bad mouths any other woman trying to make it and at the same time comes off just as desparate. It is degrading and pathetic, and her story flows as if she was still on heroine or cocaine.

I constantly wondered if this was her vengeance towards Ace. He supposedly was not allowed to drink or do drugs and she just broke his confidence. There is no juicy gossip, no humor, just a girl obsessed with knowing a rock star.

Either way, if you like reading journal entries of fifteen year old girls, this is the one for you. A twenty-eight year old trying to live vicariously through a rock star with all the naivity you ever wanted and no reward.

Summary: Pot Calling Kettle Black
Review: I wasn't surprised at all at what this book contained. One of Ace Frehley's bimbos (an extremely drugged out/co-dependant one at that) writes a book and tells us what she can remember, through her constant drug - induced states, about her time spent with Ace as a housekeeper, lover, b*tch, fellow drug addict etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. This is the ultimate example of the pot calling the kettle black. She even offers up her opinions of the other original members during the time of the Reunion, Psycho Circus and Farewell tours. Its amazing how critical a 'wannabe' can be when describing and offering opinions on the type of people she wanted to be but wasn't talented enough to become. Please note: while I'm a KISS fan -- I couldn't be happier that Ace is finally, permanently gone from the band. He's an embarassment to those of us who have followed the band since their first album in the mid-70's. To still be a blubbering drug addict after 30 plus years - lends a great deal to his level of intelligence and self-worth -- another wasted talent in the 'seedy if you let it be' world of Rock and Roll. Wendy Moore's - "Into the Void with Ace Frehley" is simply another bimbo trying to ride the band's new - found wave of popularity over the past 8 years. They're a dime a dozen and worth about as much. But hey, she got her cut out of the book I bought!

Summary: I completely agree with the other reviews but...............
Review: Into The Void... With Ace Frehley is actually strangely compelling....
I've read the other supposedly "bad" reviews and completely agree with them. I just can't believe they would give this book 1 star. Everything they are whining about is exactly what makes this book compelling. It is an unbelievably stark, frank and fascinating glimpse of a hanger-on "wannabe" set against the backdrop of their favorite guitar player, Ace Frehley.
This book actually has a beautiful arc in a classic sense.
The writing is definitely like the entries of a diary, and not by a particularly clever writer. That's what makes the story believable. It's not a polished professional rewrite. The writing reminds me a little of the middle of "Flowers For Algernon," when Charlie wasn't quite retarded anymore, but not quite a genius either. But despite this, Moore manages to both paint Frehley as an evil Svengali, as well as a pathetic character worthy of pity.
When Moore introduces Josh, the third member of a brewing love triangle, we have a hard time figuring out just who the biggest loser is. The intriguing part is when we start seeing Frehley as the third wheel in this dysfunctional relationship. By the time you read the chapter where Frehley asks Josh and Wendy to go out and rustle up some Spanish girls for him you should be totally entranced.
This book achieves the same relaxed, but desperate, aura as Sophia Coppola's "Lost In Translation." The disturbing part of this book is it really happened.
It will stick with you awhile....

Review: Qick easy read. Personal life of Ace Frehley seen through the eyes of his west coast drugged out girlfriend.

Summary: You wanted the worst, you got the worst, Wendy Moore
Review: To make a long story short this is the worst book I have ever read. I just listed it on e-bay for FREE. I don't think there is one TRUE fact in this book other then she is a drug-addicted GROUPIE. I am ashamed that I even bought it. She is a rude vile human being who, if any facts could be true, is preying on another persons weakness. She would like you to believe that she is a "victim" HA! If anything KISS and any other famous person who dared to give her the time of day are the victims. Buyer beware...it is 221 pages of pure garbage.

Summary: wendy sucks
Review: wendy moore is a typical wannabe L.A. loser (the type of person she makes fun of in this book) who lacks any form of talent at all. she finally decided that her last ditch effort at some kind of fame should be to tattle tale her experiences with ace frehley to anyone that would listen. chock full of contradictions, wendy soars through this book name-dropping and talking about her dull unsigned "venus envy" band as she criticizes other girls she has encountered who are all doing the same thing she is...doing drugs and trying to get "in" with succesful celebrities. she forces herself into ace's life not taking "no" for an answer, and then complains about his behavior. who has ever seen such a pathetic display of attention and desperation made public? i hope she stays addicted and puts herself out of her misery.

Summary: Wow-what a big suprise!
Review: Wow what a big suprise. Ace Frehley parties! I am shocked to hear this news. what a gold digger! She goes along with everything then writes a snitch book. This woman should be ashamed of herself. How can she even look herself in the mirror?
