Rating: Summary: Sloppy and Amaturish, waste of time and money Review: This book is just plain sloppy and amatuerish, in several ways. A little content is just plain wrong. There are numerous spelling and syntax mistakes, about one every other page. There are examples that don't match the description, or are misnumbered, or impossible to follow because they place steps out of order. There's lots of text, but it's mostly trivia already covered by SONAR's help system, leaving the user to try to grasp what's important. Formatting and logical flow is awful; the text runs from one concept to another, without a clear understanding of when one concept is finished and the next concept begins. One chapter has a section that is not named consistently with the other sections; its text is just dumped at the beginning of the chapter. Overall, there's little top-down presentation of ideas, so you're inundated with trivia while wondering about the big concepts. I get the impression that the authors are intelligent, but not native English speakers or skilled technical writers ... and the book was automatically translated, and no one bothered to tweak the translation. There are many sentences that are awkward or use the wrong verb tense. I also get the impression that it was not professionally edited. I wanted to like this book ... I paid for it and spent about 10 hours reading it, so I wanted my experience to be valuable. I am not the kind of person who enjoys being critical, but I cannot recommend this book. I highly recommend the book SONAR Power!, by Scott R. Garrigus, instead.
